using gene drive to fight viruses is brilliant in it's simplicity. it can pull integrated retroviruses out of latency, and you don't need to worry about overwhelming immune response to your virus vector since that would be also be a functional cure.

another sobering data point from the romanticized past
And in the above PDF, there's the answer to @faineg.bsky.social question:

Data from Chicago show that in 1916 there were 16.9 horse-related fatalities for each 10,000 horse-drawn vehicles; this is nearly seven times the city’s fatality rate per auto in 1997.

it's orwellian to see the cdc officially making such blatantly false claims
Vaccines DO NOT cause autism - there is extensive research showing this. Resurrecting old, discredited, fraudulent work is shameful.

Vaccine-preventable illnesses are serious - this is going to cause real harms.

This is dangerous & disappointing.

good news: there's now life saving treatment for Huntington disease.
unfortunately the trump regime has moved to revoke the study design approval needed to make it legal in the usa, so you may need to travel to get treatment.
GOOD NEWS! For the first time ever, Huntington's disease has been successfully treated. A groundbreaking new miRNA treatment, AMT-130, slowed the progression of the disease by 75%. These results are likely to support the first approval of a genetic treatment for the rare neurodegenerative condition.
