My usual experiment to find out how bad LLMs are at technical instructions (wiring a UK plug) as applied to grok. It's just as bad as any other LLM out there:

I wish I didn't have this skill, but I wish more that businesses would do constructive work rather than wringing every last currency unit out of everyone and everything, leaving scorched earth behind.
I can't mute the feeling that "Until it isn't" is going to be a factor.

The house renovation happening opposite me currently involves two bricklayers laying blocks on the same wall from different ends. They met in the middle, while laying mortar on the top. They'd hit a deadlock where they'd both added mortar and neither wanted to be first to skim off the excess.

It seems like such a waste of snow to have large-chunk snow-globe levels falling when it's far too warm for it to settle.

Listening to Rinse FM today and I'm struck by the fact that they're playing the exact sort of music mix that Project FM played a decade or more ago. At the time Project FM was heavily criticised for being monotonous and unlistenable. Beats, pulses and drones, very minimal, uninterrupted.

Just progressed through a step-by-step "upgrade" on Windows 10 on the Microsoft slablet thing, specifically saying I didn't want to sync anything. Reboot. It then syncs everything. It's not safe to use, it does the opposite of what I asked …and I don't suppose Windows 11 is any better.

I do not want to spend my time periodically looking out of the window to check that Bella the cat, who is scared of the scaffolding lorry, has not climbed onto the filthy top of its diesel tank, perhaps in an attempt to conquer her fear. At the same time, I do not want Bella to be driven away.

Windows has a setting that can warn about what it calls potentially unwanted apps but enabling the setting does nothing to stop Microsoft installing unwanted apps and recommending other unwanted apps.

SDRconnect really doesn't like communicating with my shairplay device. Every time it breaks for some reason it must create a new OS device - though these don't show on the system volume control - only in SDRconnect.

Hello!

Do you have access to an x-ray system, CT, Radiography, or a few seconds on the LHC main beam with a homebrew pixel detector?

Do you want to take part in #xraymyadvent this year?

You know you do.
