Don’t Listen to Greasy Gavin Newsom. Listen to Trans Athletes.
In a podcast with Charlie Kirk, the California governor put his electoral ambition ahead of trans people. But what do trans athletes themselves have to say?

Trudeau: "I want to speak first directly to the American people. We don't want this. We want to work with you as a friend and ally. We don't want to see you hurt either. But your government has chosen to do this to you. As of this morning, markets are down and inflation is set to rise dramatically."

Trump is using campus protest as a gateway to prohibit all protest in the long run. This is a long game to dismantle First Amendment protections. I hope that's obvious to everyone.

This is an excellent summary of our situation, which is quite bad.

It’s not just that they’re breaking laws. They’re breaking laws that are centrally important to our constitutional order and are constitutive of its identity. They are targeting the best parts of what democracy has built here.
Ignore the media headlines reporting that freezing federal spending or shuttering federal agencies “raise questions” or “push boundaries.” It’s an anticonstitutional lawbreaking spree.
Breaking the Law
Just weeks in, the Trump administration has violated rules, laws, and the Constitution.

Moving our accounts to a credit union continues to look like a smart move.
I think this is our future unless someone stops him. Musk’s plan for X has been for it to replace the entire banking system. His keen interest in seizing control of Treasury payments (and its tech) may forebode an intention to have such payments go through X www.theverge.com/2023/10/26/2...

This seems bad.
Pretty distressed at how Dems are responding to this bill to let Trump get another term. It’s an attack on democracy—not a meme generator related to a third Obama term (the bill precludes that anyway, and Obama doesn’t want one) or a chance to joke about Trump aging.

It is. An attack. On democracy.

This was originally intended as a short, simple Q&A in which a criminal justice expert debunks a myth.

It turned into something else.

This—now somewhat long—essay may change the way you think about criminal justice in America, and who’s a threat to our rule of law and public safety.
New Q&A Series, No. 2: Elon Musk’s Lies About Looting in California—Premeditated and Malevolent—Are Endangering Us All
Trying to undermine a Democratic administration amidst a historic emergency, Elon Musk is spreading a lie: that California’s Gavin Newsom decriminalized theft. An expert explains what really happened.

Seriously. I sue drug companies, you don't have to tell me they suck, nor explain to me the risks of pharmaceuticals.

But vaccines are different, they're like stealing fire from the Gods and burning plagues with it. Their benefit/risk ratio is downright magical.

Welker: Economists of all stripes say that ultimately, consumers pay the price of tariffs.

Trump: I don't believe that.

Welker: Can you guarantee American families won't pay more?

Trump: I can't guarantee anything..

2 Economists:

1) tariffs act like a national sales tax, raising prices on consumers

2) Trump is using you to offset his tax cuts for the super rich, yet another transfer of wealth from the bottom to the top

Child allowances, free public universities, and public health insurance provision are not "hand-outs"; they are smart social policies that countries that aren't deeply dysfunctional and cruel provide their citizens because they make everything (including the economy) better.
