Episcopal priest, porch-sitter, watcher of birds and people.
The only time I knowingly initiated an AI query was on Canva a couple of years ago to create a Palm Sunday graphic and the results so totally weirded me out that I just can’t even imagine using it pastorally.

Our power went out right after the early service. St. Patty’s Breastplate accompanied by piano is pretty cool. I kept laughing during the Sequence hymn as we sang 4 times, “let there be light!” Preached about the Trinity as Love in Action (thanks Ellen Davis). Lights back on as we started Prayer C.🕯️

Today we feel the wind beneath our wings
Today the hidden fountain flows and plays
Today the church draws breath at last and sings
As every flame becomes a Tongue of praise.

Our Mother-tongue Is Love; A Sonnet for Pentecost
Here, once more is my sonnet for Pentecost. Drawn from ‘Sounding the Seasons’, my cycle of sonnets for the Church Year, this is a sonnet reflecting on and celebrating the them…

I still think this is one of the most gutting notes I’ve ever read.

⚓Very truly I tell you, the Kingdom of Heaven is like picking green beans to give away in the misty rain with the smell of gardenias rising all around...and nibbling on rain washed blackberries as you finish up.

⚓ Today is the 9th anniversary of my first day as the Rector of Holy Trinity in Clemson. What a wild and wonderful ride it has been! I have grown to love these good people and this part of God's creation more than I had imagined when I first arrived. 🫶🏼

Jesus said he came to bring good news to the poor.

Those in power who are claiming they want a “Christian nation” are only bringing good news to the rich and powerful while creating cruel conditions for the poor.

They want “Christianity” without the inconvenience of Christ.

I spent my morning planning to host refugees in our parish hall as they learn to speak a new language, digital literacy, financial literacy, and the importance of changing HVAC filters and batteries in smoke detectors. What a high and Holy calling we have to welcome our new neighbors. ⚓

If you grew up in the South, you know just how heavenly this smells. If you don't know this joy, come on by Holy Trinity this weekend and experience it for yourself. While you're here, say a prayer and tie a ribbon on the fence. ⚓

Let’s clear something up: SNAP stands for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program — the LARGEST federal program to fight hunger in the country!

It blows my mind that the party that touts its “Christian values” is the same party that is SET on taking food from the hungry.

⚓️I left my phone in my car, so I didn’t get any pictures. Our Easter services were joy-filled with bells ringing at every alleluia (little brass bells for everyone), & PACKED. I believe people are hungry for good news wrapped in beautiful liturgy and elevated by glorious music. Happy Easter, y’all!
