I think what a lot of centrists don't understand is to most, moderation = feckless. You believe in nothing. My guess is most people will vote for authenticity over full alignment on beliefs. Unfortunately dems, in the spirit of "moderation" have demonstrated this. Best idea should always win.

Pundits say the problem is that Democrats fail to represent the people—but the real problem is that our political system fails to represent the people.
The Dems have won the popular vote in presidential elections six times since 1992 by roughly 5.5%(1992), 8.5%,(1996) .5%(2000), 7.3%(2008), 4%(2012), 2%(2016),and 4.5%(2020).
In that period the GOP presidential candidate has won the popular vote twice: 2.5%(2004) and 1.5%(2024).

Instead of all the polling centrist nonsense, here's an idea...Be charismatic/personable as a leader and stop hiring folks that are feckless. Thats it. You can do all the polling you want, but policy positions aren't that important these days.
underrated aspect of the whole "we must chase polls" discussion is that such people, almost by definition, will be cringing and timid

I think it really is this simple.
HOW VOTERS PICK A CANDIDATE:
-they observe the social environment (largely through media)
-they decide what role they want to play in that environment (respected? savvy? oppositional?)
-they pick the candidate they think fulfills that role
-they reverse-engineer an explanation for their pick

I think it really is this simple.
Great article on the challenges of carbon removal and the struggles of building it into a viable business / industry…something we’ve struggled with at Susteon. I liken it to your weekly garbage pickup, it needs public funds to thrive/survive, otherwise we’re all just living in a very stinky world.
The carbon removal hype phase is over, and the clearing-out cycle is coming.
What happens next will depend on the role governments opt to play.
