The Monroe Doctrine is the US foreign policy that says the US opposes European colonization in the Western Hemisphere.
The Monroe Doctrine does not say the US is justified in colonizing the Western Hemisphere.

What he did is the opposite of the Monroe Doctrine; the Monroe Doctrine was to remove imperialistic control of the Americas, and here Trump thinks it means he can take over all countries and drain their resources. NPR should stop giving him any favorable treatment.

They kidnapped the head of a Latin American country, replaced him with an insecure white racist who has spent his entire life arguing that Latinos are subhuman, and made clear that their primary aim is to plunder the country for its resources.

If it isn't yet clear, yes, we're the fucking baddies.
Per WASH POST, Stephen Miller will play an “elevated role” in Venezuela (what could go wrong!) and Machado won’t be president because she accepted the Nobel Peace Prize Trump wants (yes, seriously)

Couldn’t make it up if we tried

Donald Trump’s unprovoked and unconstitutional war against Venezuela demolished any notion that we live in a rules-based, constitutional democracy. Instead Trump was allowed to murder, kidnap a head of state, and vow to take oil and "run" a soverign country. MADNESS open.substack.com/pub/contrari...

NO. NO. WE ARE NOT DOING THE "ASYLUM" THING AGAIN. I CAN PUT UP WITH QUITE A LOT, THANK YOU VERY MUCH, BUT HERE I DRAW THE LINE.
Q: You've talked about returning some control to American companies. Did that play at all into your decision to capture Maduro?

TRUMP: No. What really played is the fact he sent millions of people into our country from prisons and mental institutions

The end goal of Grok sexual harassment is to make women afraid to be visible. It’s a punishment for daring to exist in a way the perpetrators can’t control. There’s no one solution to this, because the problem isn’t just technological. It’s cultural. It’s misogyny. This is just one expression of it.

What do they have in common?

All three were started as business by media insiders based on selling to the wealthy and powerful.

They are businesses—much more so than journalism outlets. They do constant beat-sweetening.

They were all founded to be sold, not produce human flourishing.
If you'd like to reduce your blood pressure and eliminate a lot of needless in-fighting, I'd recommend muting or blocking Axios, Politico and Semafor as they seem to specialize in promoting quotes from anonymous Democratic contrarians in hopes of generating rage and engagement.

If the Republicans in Congress don’t get off their cowardly asses, we’re going to witness even more insanity.

If the U.S. attacks a NATO country, then that country can invoke Article 5, requiring member states to come to its aid. Several of them are nuclear powers.

Is this scenario likely? No. But just the fact that the White House could place Americans at such risk is a major national security issue.

Trump telling a reporter that kidnapping is “not a bad term” when referring to Maduro’s “capture” sounded less off the cuff and more like an opinion he had already normalized in conversations about ICE.

Just to be clear, kidnapping is a bad term. It’s literally a crime.
