Now that’s a size-comparison map that I hadn’t seen before: Hawaii 🌺 overlayed on top of the contiguous US shows just how far spread out the Hawaiian islands are. Big geopolitical importance for a lovely corner of the world.

if you want to understand tailoring, you only need to watch mid-century movies, when actors were dressed by tailors, not brands. in the 1944 film cover girl, gene kelly's suit drapes beautifully, moving with him, not against him. collar stays on his neck, even as he dances.

I have proposed before that smol boys of age 7-12 should be consulted on the correct insults to use. They know exactly how to hit where it hurts. Once their term is over, we hand over to the teenage girls age 12-15 for pure violence.

This is a real photograph of Washington, DC this week, where the United States president has ordered military occupation in peacetime, and ordered the display of colossal portraits of himself.

Trump’s dictator-like behaviour is so brazen, so blatant, that paradoxically, we discount it. But now it’s time to call it what it is, says Guardian columnist Jonathan Freedland

When my dad was born (~1950) only one third of the global population was literate. When I was born (~1980) already two thirds of all humans were literate. When my sons were born (~2020) around 87 per cent of the global population was literate. That's human progress in action. Source: buff.ly/exODbs8

This is precisely what happened. The same effort, over and over again, with Democrats and Republicans. But America was finally weak enough to simply ignore and its president idiotic enough to go along with it.
Netanyahu has spent the better part of two decades trying to strong arm the United States into an unprovoked war against Iran and finally found a president stupid enough to do it for him. Unbelievable.
