Just a thought:
It is both correct to believe that speeding is dangerous and also correct that deploying militarized cops to selectively put people in debt for driving slighty faster than a posted speed limit is a deeply flawed way to regulate driving.

I understand where this interpretation is coming from, but Sinners makes it pretty explicit that vampirism is a metaphor for assimilation, not whiteness. The main antagonist is Irish & the Irish were considered an inferior subrace of white people who deserved subjugation just like non-white folk.
Feel free to yell at me bc it’s always possible I’m just dumb, but I think if you’re going to make a movie where vampirism is—overwhelmingly but not consistently—a metaphor for whiteness, you should probably not build a major character completely out of dialogue about how she’s white-passing

What was even the point of this shutdown? My guess: Senate Dems did this to juice election numbers & now that it worked, they're pulling back. They never cared about healthcare. They just wanted to manipulate their base to deliver a big win w/out any intent to actually deliver for their base.

We can't vote Schumer out until 2028 but we can make him being the senate majority leader a litmus test for 2026 candidates. Every single Dem senate candidate should be forced to go on the record and state they will not vote for him as majority leader.

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

The dumbest thing about all the graham platner controversey is that there's no chance he is worse than Susan Collins & only a slim chance he'd be worse than a regular ol' corporate dem. People are more worried about looking like a fool for supporting him if he turns out to suck than being a fool rn

Hi Sally. When Weiss published a supposed expose on the death of George Floyd, a veteran criminal justice reporter showed in deep detail that the piece was not just wrong but filled with falsehoods and misrepresentations. Weiss did not retract the piece. What do you think of that?
This is really smart. Amazed at the hysteria over the ascendance of a woman entrepreneur who clearly knows how to cover and sell news and who's not afraid to take on a mob. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

They’re using American tax dollars to fund infrastructure in Argentina because that’s where they’re all going to flee when we kick them out of office
After announcing a $20 billion bailout of Argentina, the White House now says it's pausing $18 billion in funding for NYC infrastructure projects

Not all fedposting takes the form of encouraging [insert violent act]. Encouraging protestors to police other protestors divides people & creates an opportunity for cops to break up the protest. Cops are not your friends & no amount of poor optics justifies police brutality against protestors.
Concerned that the regime will want to incite violence at the planned No Kings 2 Day of Action on October 18th? I do honestly believe that they want violence so they can crush us, so please read this handy guide.

This is a weirdly sloppy piece from the Jacobin. If they're going to claim 15 years of consistency on free speech, you'd expect they could articulate a positive conceptualization of a term that is notoriously ambiguous in common parlance.

On Free Speech, Jacobin Has Always Been Consistent
In recent years, liberals, the Left, and the Right have all waffled on defending free speech when it doesn’t suit them. But not Jacobin. For 15 years, we have insisted that free speech is a basic democratic principle that must be defended.

This reads like Ezra Klein was trying to find something nice to say about Kirk & it truly says a lot that he had to lie to do it. I don't care what criticisms anyone has of Klein, he & Kirk are not at all invested in the same political project.

Kirk was a wolf in sheep's clothing. Nothing more.
