I’m recalling how Epstein wrote about Trump:

“i have met some very bad people ,, none as bad as trump. not one decent cell in his body.. so yes - dangerous.”
I spent two years in the Trump administration. During that time, I saw how the president handled national security decisions. One of my biggest takeaways was this:

He fantasized regularly about maiming & killing unarmed civilians. Actually.

Exactly. The absence of gravity in discussing deaths serves to cheapen ALL lives.
Kelly: He runs around on stage talking about lethality and the warrior ethos.. That’s not the message that should be coming from the Secretary of Defense… He runs around on a stage like he’s a 12 year old playing army. It’s embarrassing.

Lizza says Nuzzi had a “poor quality” recording that might or might not have included Trump saying something about his bloody ear that might or might not have contradicted the official narrative about the assassination attempt but then deleted the recording after talking with RFKJr.

So tiresome 💤💤💤

An illegal order was given. An illegal order was followed.

This puts into context the reaction of the Trump admin to the video by Democratic lawmakers urging troops not to follow illegal orders.

Now it’s illegal orders to kill foreign nationals. Next it could be illegal orders to kill Americans.

Trump will only be more dangerous the more unpopular he becomes and the more cornered he feels.

He and his collaborators will rush to try to implement their agenda and to consolidate their power further.
Trump claims “any document” signed by Joe Biden is “hereby terminated.”

He calls out executive orders later but obviously “any document” would be much broader and include legislation.

(He can’t legally do that but, as always, we get to watch how far he can push this without repercussions)

Russia won’t make any concessions in a so-called peace deal.

Deputy FM Ryabkov claims that all possible concessions were already made by Putin “in Anchorage, Alaska.” Everything else is off the table, they won’t discuss it publicly and will continue pushing to achieve all declared goals.

And he was nowhere near the drafting of that Ukraine 'peace plan,' which was instead devised by the president's real-estate buddy and his son-in-law.

In the Trump budget, ICE was allocated $75 BILLION above its previous funding for use over the next four years. It has to find a way to spend all that money somehow.
NEW: ICE has torn up its $180M cap on a proposed immigrant-tracking program and is now guaranteeing private surveillance firms at least $7.5M each, with potential payouts reaching $281M per vendor. The change signals a shift from “pilot” to full-scale outsourcing of street-level investigative work.

If the Dems had any fuckin’ brains, saying “the part of Epstein is trying to make laws that let them look in your kid’s pants” would be a pretty easy way to crush the Republicans
it’s also a thing where people can be convinced. the right got some people worked up about trans women in sports but possible to get people a lot more worked up about individual/parental rights, genital inspectors, etc
I think Democrats should double down on trans rights now. It's obvious that most voters don't care about it so you might as well stick with your principles and goad Republicans into focusing on it at the expense of everything else so they're the ones who look like freaks.

I'm not a historian but I am a political scientist and in my professional opinion saying Donald Trump is the most openly corrupt president in American history is less controversial than saying 2+2=4 or Victor Wembanyama is tall.

LESS controversial.
Does the BBC think it's improper for a speaker to state their opinion that Donald Trump is the most openly corrupt president in American history?

Because I think almost all historians would readily agree that Donald Trump is the most openly corrupt president in American history.

My unpopular opinion is that we don't really know any more about foreign accounts manipulating U.S. politics on Twitter than we did before this update. There's no way of knowing who specifically used a VPN and who didn't. It's obvious that this is a problem but we don't have better data on it now.

We found: the wealthiest 100 Americans gave $1.1 billion to influence the 2024 elections — 140x more than they did in 2000. And almost all of that giving boosted Republicans.
