dont let a few ICE agents leaving mn fool you. nothing on the ground has changed yet. this is a way for them to distract and give a scapegoat so the rest of the world will turn a blind eye.

i turned 26 last week
i hated it
existential crises are fun
we're still making music like our lives depended on it, but i know what a dying dream looks like. all i can do is fight like hell to keep it alive...

The "ICE is using military tactics suited for a warzone, not for American streets" rhetoric kinda misses the point that warzones are not naturally occuring. The US military creates war zones from residential neighborhoods and the tactics are not more justifiable just because it's overseas

Anything less than abolishing ICE is unacceptable. I don't want to hear people talk about training these motherfuckers or throwing more money at them. The entire institution needs to be permanently disbanded. Do not let politicians sell you on anything less.

"And I never say no"

We need to have a serious talk about the way "AI companion" apps not only prey on the vulnerable, but are priming their users to ignore consent and to conflate love with control.

We need AI regulations across so many sectors, but this area is particularly horrifying.

This is how institutional oppression is born, btw. Never trust a Democrat
"democrats say demolishing the ballroom and abolishing ice are popular with liberal activists but party leaders would prefer to turn the page on trump and instead focus on kitchen table economic issues" - february 2029
And they'll try to get out of demolishing the ballroom and ripping up Elon's government contracts. We can't let that shit slide.

Confirmation that the New York Times has changed their internal style guide to cease using the term "gender affirming care" and instead use the term "gender related care."
I asked around and this does appear to be a deliberate style change. It wasn’t announced to staff, but contentious style changes often aren’t. They’re just imposed by the standards desk when they review a story. (Take that for what it is) This desk btw is run by Patrick Healy, no friend of trans ppl

This is disgusting and you should be ashamed. I know you won't.
Yes, it bothers people that we now have government abductions, military being sent in against citizens, and pedophiles running our lives.

If you had sacrificed your own lives for your beliefs, that would have been acceptable. Noble, even. But you had no right to risk everyone else's lives.

if you're wondering why your trans friends everywhere are a little on edge right now, it's because a story about a radical conservative christian student abusing rules and processes to deliberately target a trans instructor consistently gets reframed to omit the entirety of the anti-trans bigotry
If you’re wondering why your friends in academia are a little on edge right now, it’s because an eighteen-year-old who hasn’t done the reading, doesn’t look at the assignment, and has does no critical thinking skills more complex than “because I think it’s in the Bible” can literally end your career
