That’s nonsense. Democracy isn’t a luxury, it’s a duty that requires the voters to decide. If you treat your vote as merely a menu choice where, if nothing is appetising you don’t eat, then you’ve misunderstood your duty as a citizen.

Sooo Democratic senators vote to reopen the government in return for a promise to hold a vote on the Affodrable care act? Pardon me if I'm wrong, but isn't that a guaranteed defeat for them, given that they're the minority & that Trump hates it?

Well, despite all the doom & gloom, I am overjoyed to be able to report that my niece - my only niece! - Una Elisabeth was born early this morning. It was not an easy delivery, but mother & child are reported to be doing well.

Today, with the temperatures heading toward 37°C, I have been forced to re-use the air conditioning unit I bought back in 2018. Its not very efficient as we vent the heat through an open window - but thanks to the power of a repurposed cardboard box & lots of duct tape, we're slowly cooling down.

I’m so glad that Trumps unilateral & totally constitutional orders were entirely successful & will have no lasting negative consequences for international security.
