I think this is a challenge @equalaccesspublicmedia.org has faced a lot.

What are we? Are we affiliated with NPR and PBS, or before it started shutting down, CPB? Did we get government funding from the public media funds for CPB?

The answer to all that is no.

Why donate here when every Public Media Affiliate station takes donations?

IMO people should donate to their local station
When I tried to get hired after five years of *checks notes* recovering from being hit head-on by an SUV during which I found out I had a genetic condition that includes, ya know, deadly heart thing, all during which there was a deadly pandemic, I was told to my face I was too disabled.

Vanity Fair's West Coast Editor Olivia Nuzzi was a star political correspondent until scandal led her into exile—and to a California up in flames.

In an excerpt from her book, ‘American Canto,’ she takes stock of scorched earth.

She flamed out and she faded away. 'Vanity Fair'’s West Coast Editor returns to the written word to survey scorched earth.

Coming back from this symposium with so many new ideas. Even better, I've met great, hard-working nonprofit journalists from all over. And I got to see my favorite NY-Ohioan. Plus? I got to (re)connect with a journalist I haven't seen in 20 years. So... success all around.

Let me tell you about a conversation I just had in the lobby.

He's here from Montana, but he's got fam where I've got fam. We've got a lot in common. He's also a former Marine. And we get to talking. We both have traveled a lot.

More convos with some of the farm guys this morning in the coffee line. One was discussing an article he had read, and I was like, "Oh, that was a great article."

My dear libertarian neighbors to the north, what in the ever loving fuck are you thinking?
November 14, 2025 at 12:16 PM
Ok, I’m ready to go home now. I miss my husband. I miss my critters. I miss my bed. I miss Boston. I miss coffee places that open before 7 am.

Good morning from *looks around* Indianapolis.

So, uhh, I'm here over husband's birthday (today), and this makes me a terrible wife. And I want everyone to send birthday vibes to the old man back in Boston so he feels super loved in my absence.

Ready? 1. 2. 3.

Happy birthday, my love!

Who forgot her boots have metal taps in them until going through TSA?

This girl.

Not gonna make that mistake again.

I keep checking to see if my flight leaves on time today. As of right now, yes. But anything could change in the next 5 hours 27 minutes. I feel like keeping my hopes up for smooth travels is ridiculous at this point.

About 7% of Americans are veterans, but only 2% of journalists are veterans, according to Military Veterans in Journalism. We are working to make the journalism industry more accessible to veterans, who may have unique needs such as PTSD, limb loss, and combat injuries.

True story.

Conference call today set up by a person on the board. Person we're meeting with discovers I'm in Boston.
Her: I'm in Boston too!

Volume of the call goes up at least 10 db.

And yes, we did discuss Boston sports.

Ok, I have pulled out the winter coat and turned on the heat.

I understand the ramifications of this. This single-day cold-blast is not actually enough to warrant this, and I should be ashamed. I should immediately move out of Boston and Massachusetts entirely.

I apologize.

So, yes, the AP online style guide is great and all, but I'm someone who has to have a desk reference. So I have boldly stepped into 2024 and bought a new desk copy of the Style Guide!

No one point out the irony of me/EAPM building an online-only style and accessibility guide. Yes, I see it.

Here is my latest for @msnbc.com, on Trump's ill-advised concept of a plan for health care, which entails repealing the ACA, and redistributing private insurers' tax breaks to the people for what would essentially amount to an HSA, which is unhelpful if not wealthy. www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...

These soldiers are whistleblowers. Yes, they confirm what we know, but they are are whistleblowers at their own risk.

Too many innocent lives have been lost. Too many people continue to die each day. This must stop.
