Everywhen #ttrpg returns to my reading pile, reminding me that the game is not nearly as lightweight as often thought, with lots of player options around a simple core.

I enjoy buying indie TTRPGs and immediately renaming them because the author decided to go with "game.pdf" or "final.pdf" (or "final1.pdf", which raises questions that ought to have been answered by the word "final"), but I think my favourite turned out to be named "pdf.pdf". Like, tell me nothing.

Tax is love and "we should stop always describing tax as a burden or cost, and start seeing it as an acknowledgment of the benefits we derive from public services – and a loving contribution to the wellbeing of all of us."

A crazy little thing called tax
Tax heroes: If tax is love then New Zealand needs to show a lot more affection, writes Max Harris.

Mutants In the Now

This is your perfect fix for playing anthropomorphic teenaged animal martial artists.

Especially if you don't want to be stuck paying brand name prices.

Now entitled Tales of Argosa in its second edition.

Easy to pick up modern d20 based dark fantasy. Lots of great sword & sorcery vibes.

Arguably it's been like this at least as long as I've been roleplaying, since the early 90s.

If I was forced to sit and think about every game, every table, every player I've encountered since the very first, I'd say this was actually the majority attitude?

Very few have been all about the rules.
we also have the problem that a pretty big section of the consumer-base for ttrpgs are not really interested in engaging with the game on a mechanical level, prefering to play a sort of freeform with homeopathic d20 rolls now and then.
