Speaking of relics of the past... I've been reading Thieves World. I'm into book 2.
So far: Game of Thrones written by D&D nerds in an ersatz Roman Empire backwater city full of cutthroats and scum. Some cool characters, several female, but all quite 2-dimensional at best.

lol.. I think I touched a nerve.
I did say PG... not PG-13. PG movies are, largely, just not my bag. There are plenty of great PG-13 films.
To clue you in on the source of my trauma... it was Conan the Destroyer. I still haven't forgiven that one. I never will.

I don't know about the rest of you, but nothing nukes my interest in a movie more than learning it's got a PG rating. I raised kids. I sat through the Gs and PGs and did my time. I barely ever watch ANY movies. They're not gonna be PG, fuckers.
Do they even make them anymore? Mostly PG-13, seems.

It's weirdly upsetting to me that the Wiki page for "dark fantasy" doesn't include any mention of Tanith Lee. Which reminds me that my perception of Lee is heavily biased since I randomly discovered her Flat Earth at age 14 (she ruined me). But that doesn't mean most other folks know who she is.

Chicken soup is Rudolph Schenker in my left ear holding down the rhythm while Matthias Jabs shreds his fucking ass off in my right ear and Klaus Mein says incomprehensible crowd-jazzing things between songs like "Arigheetcaleeforya rotunrooolll!" and so forth. And there's Herman Rarebell too.

"Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you." is both true and wildly misleading. It's true in the sense that there COULD BE a naked drunk Shaker living in your attic... but are you going to put money on it? It's endlessly fascinating to me when people put EVERYTHING on it.

From a game I made when was 15. Mad Max type of thing called Survivors. I cringe... but sometimes we have to look back and give our young selves a hug. This was peak "sitting in my room alone looking at my D&D books and dreaming" time. #TTRPG

Spent a lot of time and what little money I had at The Great Escape back in the day. Haven't been there in years, though. This is where I discovered the good shit in the boxes buried at the back of the store.
