Actually, I read Triplanetary, which is not the first novel but the first prequel to the novels. And it was an epoch-spanning tale of interplanetary wars and stuff. I vaguely remember some of it after re-reading a synopsis this morning. But damn... left a small impression on me. Not sure why.
I read the first Lensman book by E. E. "Doc" Smith. I didn't love it. I can't put my finger on why. I was confused for a bit, didn't quite understand the setting or what was happening. It felt like I was constantly missing context. I know it's a classic, though. But...

These old V&V ads are nostalgia trips. But imagine being a teen and seeing this and thinking age 20 was reasonable for a guy to be an electronics researcher capable of building sci-fi devices AND becoming a champion of justice. Seems like a lot to do in the few years you've had a driver's license.

One of the projects currently fighting its way up the limited attention span bandwidth. I have some finished pages and a handful of finished scripts for short comics. Could be a lot of fun to draw the adventures of black knights, chainmail chicks, and skeletal warriors. #BlackPuddingZine

Ok... I'm sure there's a story behind why the back cover of this comic book is just red. Nothing but red. What a waste of expensive space! Draw somethin'! Hell... you could do a collage of the interior panels and it would be better than a blank page on your BACK COVER.

I don't draw my own RPG characters often, but this is Lily Draper, my strange character in a playtest of a friend's William Burroughs/William Gibson inspired paranormal investigation game Quantum Lunch. She's sort of modelled on Beatrice from the Men in Black movie.

Playing around with a Rapidoliner in my sketchbook, c. 1992. Obviously from some photo ref. This was when I was in college and taking every drawing class they had to offer. Fun times.

It is frighteningly easy to weaponize "protecting the children" to enact the most authoritarian laws. Nobody wants to be the person who opposes protecting kids. But you gotta read that fine print and understand what you are supporting... we only have freedom if we actively fight for it.

The world is a scary place these days with fascism at a high point and so many fools oblivious to it. Fight it every day! But also, look after yourselves. Take time to breathe and recognize that things aren't all bad. Life is still beautiful. Do something fun or relaxing when you can.
