True. There is no insult in simply saying a book is so old the language and perspectives are too out of step with modern thinking to resonate with most people. Maybe worth exploring, but not essential.

Now that sounds like my kind of jam. I'm reading Ringworld now for the first time. I think Lensman was, for me, just a bit too old school sci-fi. Meaning... it was so driven by the big story there was no human element. No characters to remember.

Those ads certainly sold it. Great art, cool logo design, and the added touch of showing us some stats was VERY alluring.

I realized it was Triplanetary that I read, so I'm not sure how that factors in. I know that was a big lore dump of a book. It felt like I was missing so much context.

It's been a couple years so my memory is fuzzy. But what I remember is there was some kind of war or threat from space and there were already spies and stuff in space. It felt like a spy novel that morphed into a space war. But I never felt connected or interested in anyone or anything in it.
