Coun Loughton is referring her motion to Feb 26 requesting that Council direct staff to work with BC Housing and the CRD to develop a regional positive transfer system for supportive housing. Wanting to offer staff time to see if the position can be filled internally.

1/ ProPublica collected handwritten letters in mid-January from children held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the same facility where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was taken.

Hundreds of kids are still detained.

All this while I’m seeing LMIA and TFW programs being abused by employers of all sizes and stripes in BC.

I can’t think about this too hard or I’m gonna get too angry to do anything at all.
Francisco Barahona, who has been living and working in Canada for 15 years, has been struggling to access treatment for the cancer he was diagnosed with in 2023. A hospital called immigration because he didn’t have status. He’s being deported Wednesday.
