The time and cost involved is not a reason to eliminate due process. What it is is a reason to reduce the number of people being held. Ideally the financial burden of the legal system should be a fucking incentive to REDUCE the number of non violent offenders held.
There are moments the mask is removed, and all the lies evaporate. This quote by a District Attorney in California is incredible. He says the volume of shackled poor people brought to court--what he calls the "cattle call"--makes it impossible to consider them as individuals.

idk that new dems will have continuing relevance in the party but anyone who thinks it’s straightforwardly obvious that a future dem administration would take a hatchet to DHS/ICE should read this, especially last paragraph
so, my issue with this is that it completely misses that DHS has been turned into a quasi-paramilitary for the right
