So why is the new Speaker "dragged" to the chair? The Speaker, by tradition, feigns reluctance to take the post. This dates to the days when British speakers were the ones to give the monarch bad news, a dangerous duty that could cause a speaker to lose their head.
A tradition in Parliament: escorting the newly elected Speaker of the House of Commons to the Speaker’s chair.

Congratulations, Francis Scarpaleggia. Canadians look forward to your leadership in the Chamber.

Waterfronts can have tall, separated, dense housing and vibrant public life at street level. It’s not hard. You just have to design it that way. A lot of cities haven’t. Too many built walls in the sky & blank walls at the street. Because city hall let them.

Beautiful day on Vancouver’s waterfront.

Believe it or not, all three of these fish are the same species… the bluehead wrasse. Wrasses are protogynous hermaphrodites, meaning they transition from female to male over the course of their lives. Each phase can look radically different from each other as evidenced here #coralcitycamera

Albert Goodwin advocated for worker's rights and unions in British Columbia and pushed for better working conditions and pay for coal miners.
His killing by police led to Canada's first general strike and his memory is honoured to this day.
This is his story.

But George Santos made the mistake of scamming a bunch of Republican millionaires. No pardons for that.

These minerals are currently sitting atop the sea floor, waiting to be scooped up and processed. Through #NOAA’s mapping tech and licensing abilities, we are helping industry leaders find, collect and bring back these minerals to benefit the #USA & domestic manufacturing.
