Please tell me the best movies you have watched this year. Not necessarily from this year, just what did you see for the first time that you loved?

How many times have folks made it to the movie theaters this year?

The worship pastor at my church from when I was in my late teens/early 20s (a sister church of Mars Hill, which may tell a lot of people all they need to know) wrote an email today as he's reflecting on an album he did of the worship songs that he wrote for that church. The songs are now in my head.

Went to go see Tron: Ares last night and literally three of the six trailers that we saw had a colon in the name (not including Tron: Ares). Predator: Badlands, Wicked: For Good, and Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere. Just thought it was funny.

I've been thinking a lot about this concept lately and this essay is excellent. We really want to believe that the people we disagree with just don't have the right info and if they did that would change everything. It just unfortunately isn't how people work and it's a myth we need to move past

The one I think about the most often is The Exorcist, which I swear to god no one else watched but that I loved.
Everyone has a 1-2 season TV show they sorely miss and not enough people knew about that you are always praising the heavens about.

What's yours?

My therapist from over a decade ago just made a long Facebook post about how Ch*rlie K**k was a prophet and I just... don't even know what to do with that. I mean, other than unfriend her which I obviously did

God this thread is exactly the hopeful emotional salve we all need to hear right now and also we need to be taking notes because it’s a great template for how we can successfully fight an ICE invasion when they come to our city.
Alright, so I've been afraid to say this out loud, but I think after today, I can say it: In the first Battle of Los Angeles, the good people of LA County have prevailed. We beat ICE back. 1/

One of my favorite experiences in the entire world is when I'm watching some stuff by a director I've previously been at least kinda meh on and then there's like a click of some kind and I feel like I Get It.

Anyway, breaking news, that Michael Mann guy knows what he's doing.

Thinking about Dobson - he was a vain and narcissistic man who cared most about power and influence and while his legacy is still with us, he went from being called by the president to spending the last 15 years of his life booted from his own org with hardly anyone still listening to him.

I spent so many hours, days, weeks, reading Dobson, sharing on Twitter. So much of my deconstruction from religion involved reading his garbage and understanding his lies. He was a monster in the true sense of the word. I hope he died in pain, even a fraction of what he put others through.
James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family and one of the most influential voices in the conservative evangelical movement, has died at age 89

I have downloaded the Tiny Bookshop game on Switch and I am worried I am going to live to regret that decision. Like I did NOT grab the switch at 1am last night to play for "just a bit" but I almost did?

Went to see the new Naked Gun last night and it was a very fun time. Our theater was nearly full, I'm not sure... they all had as much of a fun time? Two people walked out. I think me and mine were the only people laughing at some of the jokes (not all of them but some of them).

Among the greatest promotional photos of all time are these for the 1990 television movie of IT, where it looks like a prestige legal drama about a firm of hot young lawyers and one associate who likes to dress up like a clown.
