Great movie. Jeffrey Wright has one scene and he's absolutely amazing.
just rewatched the very great hbo made-for-television movie "lackawanna blues" (2005). i remember the ways this film, in particular, was an event (elders gathered around the television with deep anticipation) in my childhood community and the film cracked my brain open.

I’m a thousand percent certain, as always, that they’re not talking about black Christians here - of which there are many and who studies still show are much more religious than the American public as a whole.
