You know, from my position as a Jewish trans woman, saying that "But if a few of your ugly ass relatives got killed, I'll withhold judgement on those specific killings." on the Shoah or saying "there was a tiny silver lining", that from my position goes from at minimum an antisemitic fuck to a Nazi.

People will applaud this and be like “if everyone were like this think about how much better the world would be”

But also

“You can’t expect Russians to stand up to their government, it’s too authoritarian!”

And not understand this objectively a pro-fascist combination of views
Greta Thunberg is protesting the EU’s rearmament plan. She said that a “military economy destroys lives, creates debt, and fuels wars for the sake of war itself.”

Together with ultra-left activists, Greta is calling for protests and strikes against the defense industry.

i was especially struck by these paragraphs, which rang very true to me. libs who grew up around conservatives aren't embarrassed to be liberals--or confused about what conservatives want. there's a certain kind of elite media man, on the other hand--

I don’t support criminalising slogans, except when they’re directly used to harass or intimidate.

But I think it’s a profound moral (and tactical) failure that campaigners didn’t stop using them long ago.

James Garfield, here's a guy who hated Mondays! He probably also hated getting shot. Michael Shannon was in a TV show about Garfield. He's said some very nasty things about me, nasty things. Not Garfield, who would be asking me for advice on not getting shot. You gotta turn away I told him

I'm developing a kind of cosmopolitan-chauvinism, I guess you could call it anti-feudalism, as a through line in my politics. The peasant-brained and the local landed gentry are the enemy. Sort of funny that this could describe being either rabidly capitalist or communist.

I hope I am not speaking out of place here, but I would argue that the number one demand for any ceasefire with Russia should be that all the kidnapped children, all the people deported to Russia, and all the POWs are returned to Ukraine.

Actually, we, among the soldiers, look very closely to what Zelenskyy does.

We have feeling that USA is trying to push us into a “bad deal” and this time again - Zelenskyy stands up for us and represents the will of Ukraine’s soldiers.

Soldiers disapprove Witkoff’s “peace”.

“Elite” is a pretty contested term and seems to shift between referring to a fairly small group to referring to anyone with a college degree and white collar employment. But Larry Summers really is a useful exemplar. There’s people like him that just get to sit at every single table somehow.
