I highlighted the most important part of yesterday’s Nature paper.

We’re in year six.

Can you please stop saying “during the pandemic” and “post-Covid”?

You sound dangerously uninformed or just really stupid when you say it.

(1/x) I keep seeing ppl look abroad for political leaders to compare Trump with and find lessons from. All the ingredients of a Trump presidency are right here in the U.S. We need look no further than our own backyard...

More than 100 years after its initial review that blamed Black men, the Dept. of Justice just released its report on the 1921 Tulsa race massacre

The report says the attack “was so systematic and coordinated that it transcended mere mob violence”

These are the same self proclaimed leftists who won’t even wear a mask amidst an ongoing pandemic so that they don’t kill or disable those around them. It’s very toxic, and at its core it’s rank, right wing individualism.

Under mounting pressure from lawmakers and amidst a moral panic about young people’s social media use, Meta introduced a new set of “sensitive content” restrictions which led to the downranking and hiding of LGBTQ content.

I'll keep saying it until people in power start listening:

It's not social media that is primarily causing mental health issues for young people.

It's the material economic conditions they face and then see/express on SM that causes it. (healthcare worries, cost of living, unaffordable rent etc)
One of the most prominent voices boosting policies like Meta's sensitive content restrictions is NYU professor Jonathan Haidt, whose dubious book, The Anxious Generation falsely ties social media use to teen mental health issues in order to push a moral panic about kids and technology use.

It continues to drive me bonkers that people think that social media bans are actually intended to help youth. Here’s another reminder of the underlying anti-trans political agenda. Even without laws, tech companies are doing hate mongers’ bidding. “For the children.”

Just like the “male loneliness epidemic” the imbalance in men going to college is entirely their own doing. A whole generation has decided to make themselves uneducated and unfuckable because they’re addicted to resentment. Manosphere influencers line their pockets by ensuring they stay that way.
i hate to be a monocausal guy but i really think this discussion of masculinity, trade school, the gendering of education etc is beating around the bush. male democrats have seen no sizable drop in their desire to attend college. female republicans have. it’s about politics.

Implicit in a lot of anti-vaccination and anti-public health narratives like those of RFK Jr is a deep disgust/fear of disability; but also an unspoken hope that unchecked disease will "cull" the population of "weaker/less fit" people.
I really just can't see past a lot of that.

Thinking of all the disabled folks having a lonely holiday season bc ppl couldn't be bothered with COVID precautions, the space wasn't accessible, funds are tight, you need the time off to recover, ppl are disappointed you're not who you used to be, invitations are simply no longer forthcoming, etc.

Joe Biden is the president.
Every Democratic lawmaker needs to be on television, radio, and social media hammering the shit out of Trump's embarrassing failure to get a continuing resolution passed with his cruel budget priorities. Make it hurt. Call out their incompetence. Show some goddamn fire.
