The amazing obituary the Tulsa World published about my 3x great-grandfather Lewis Mulkey in 1930, three years to the day before my grandma was born. At the time it was believed he was the oldest survivor of Cherokee removal. We now know Rebecca Ketcher Neugin outlived him by 3 years

In 1905 my 3x great-grandfather petitioned the Dawes Commission to return some of his allotment land, on account of it being "valueless." He is 70 years old. He survived the Trail of Tears when he was 4. And he wants to give the govt their shit land back. His petition was denied.
