I remember as a kid I would get in so much trouble reading a book at social events, like holiday parties or family gatherings, and now it's fine to look at your phone the entire time because everyone is doing it.

again: the issue is one of a credibility and values gap. the modern democrat has no real core values they can articulate and therefore no credible theory of the case to press. conversely every republican is clear on their values: being racist, black bagging immigrants, hunting trans people for sport

I spoke to the person who AI-generated the Chicago Sun-Times reading list. Says he's very embarrassed. This was part of a generic package inserted into newspapers and other publications, so likely to run elsewhere. He didn't know it'd be in Chicago Sun-Times
