Picketing outside Justice Page MS today, 2 amazing 6th graders from “the Justice Pages” school newspaper that I advise stayed over an hour snapping pics and getting excited to see their teachers on the line. They care about us & know we’re there for them. Can’t wait to read what they write.

The goal is to have no encampments. But until the city funds housing-first solutions, they're inevitable. Frey's encampment sweeps don't work. He isn't solving homelessness, he's wasting valuable resources. Everyone deserves a dignified path to housing, not a fenced off sidewalk.

Great op-ed from my colleagues about JPS students walking out on Friday.

Opinion | We should be listening to the kids on gun control
Two teachers share why some of their students participated in school walkouts for gun reform after the Annunciation Catholic Church shooting in Minneapolis.

At noon today, Charli, front and center, joined 12 of his 7th grade classmates and walked out of my classroom to march for change. So proud of this kid and all the other hundreds of our students with him. <3

116 rifle casings were found at Annunciation. 116!

Weapons designed for war don’t belong in our communities.

The choice b/t kids’ lives & weapons of war is clear. It’s time to ban automatic weapons and high capacity magazines.

Democrats once again call for assault weapons ban after Annunciation shooting
Democrats renewed calls for gun control measures after the shooting, but proposals face a roadblock in Minnesota’s narrowly divided Legislature.

A friend just texted me this 😂. This was 9 years ago! Still remember that night, though. It was a great night!

Hardly anything could be dirtier & grimier than a relatively small group, hundreds of city residents, gathering in an auditorium to decide a local DFL endorsement. Except a committee of outstate bigwigs overturning that endorsement bc their guy needed it bad. That seems dirtier.

This is the first time I’ve ever questioned my party affiliation. Hmm.

The hearing today was the culmination of a 4.5 assault on the connective tissue of the DFL in Mpls, to prevent exactly the eventuality that happened, Frey losing the DFL endorsement.

It was full spectrum domination aimed at eliminating any avenue of power building against downtown money.

Hennepin County’s proposed layout for Lyndale Avenue S. falls short.

It’s not a people-first design. It’s a decorated, street-level parking lot, dusted with the occasional confetti of mode shift virtue signals.

No protected bikeways, 24/7 bus lanes, or green space throughout the entire corridor.

YES. I don’t know this family personally (yet) but I love them and what they do for our community and am pumped to teach their kids when they get to middle school. Thanks for advocating for our awesome public schools!
Every time I talk to suburban parents about living in the city, they ask, “But how are the schools?”

The thing is, I’m a former public school teacher who taught in an “urban” school with under-resourced and under-served students. I loved it. I loved my students. I loved my colleagues. 1/4

This is incredibly, terribly sad. I hope the people close to Becka Thompson can find her the help she needs.
Becka Thompson is back! In a video she posted earlier today, she claims that John Edwards of @wedge.live is serving as a DSA propagandist "by deepfaking and cutting up a video that I [Becka] did here and taking it completely out of context."

A big influence for me in "what is Uptown" is the 70s/80s punk scene. CC Club is definitely Uptown. Notable locations from the punk scene in Whittier are gone, so that has now evolved and been rebranded as "Whittier".

And Lyn-Lake is in fact a subregion within Uptown.

I have had legit the best job ever this summer - taking groups of 11-14 year olds out on bike rides across Minneapolis. I should be doing more to write down and share some insights and thoughts. Let’s start! Maybe i’ll continue to add to it throughout

One of the issues with this line of argument is the lack of definition of who “they” is. The duly elected delegates at the convention adopted the rules of the day. Delegates also had a motion to suspend the rules and re-vote- which they chose not to do.

My first and still best convention was Ward 10, Lisa Bender, 2013. When Ken Bradley dropped out and endorsed Lisa who then took the lead over Kendal Killian who graciously bowed out so the left would be united around one candidate who wasn't Meg Tuthill. I THOUGHT ALL CONVENTIONS WOULD BE THAT FUN.
I survived two Ward 10 conventions in the span of two years. I was at the Storming of the Stage. I saw an honest-to-God Mondale get shoved in Ward 7 this year. I watched the purge in Ward 2. You have nothing to teach me about the norms and procedures of political conventions.

Another important detail of this is that the 478 total ballots cast proves quorum.

Quorum is a majority of the registered delegates. And the total number of delegates that is even *theoretically* possible for the city convention is 833 (800 regular delegates, 33 DPLs).
Results for @mplsdfl.org endorsement of candidates for Park Board At-Large.

Congratulations to our endorsed candidates!

478 paper ballots were cast in the Park Board at-large race after Frey's crew exited en masse. There's your quorum.

It's a pretty basic strategy that I don't have a problem with. But anyone could have seen that they didn't have nearly enough delegates for it to work.

Frey looked like a fool. Palmisano looked like a fool. All the sheep they herded and marched out looked like fools. Someone should get fired.
I’ve been part of a walkout to deny quorum so I can’t be above all this, but it has to work!
linea palmisano leading a walkout to prevent quorum?
