If you wanted to cut waste, fraud, and abuse, you would empower the inspectors general.

If you wanted more waste, fraud, and abuse, you would fire them.

President Carter defined what it means to be a servant leader. He fought for our democracy, our climate, humanity, and civil rights around the world. We can find peace today knowing that he is reunited with the love his life, Rosalynn.

Montreal isn’t perfect on housing but this is one thing I *love*. Apartments are everywhere, including quiet streets. The dreadful idea that apartments and renters only belong on busy roads (to act as a “buffer” for single-family homeowners) simply is not a thing in a neighbourhood like this.

The thing to remember about Minneapolis and housing is that the 87% of new units were 20+ units builds in transit-oriented and commercial corridors. They did build height *minimums* and abolished parking minimums.
Minneapolis Land Use Reforms Offer a Blueprint for Housing Affordability
Minneapolis was once among the cities whose zoning policies prevented sufficient housing construction. In the early 2000s, the city maintained strict requirements related to parking, land use, and bui...

ICYMI, most read story in the Sunday Toronto Star was my look at how "15-minute city" conspiracy theories are roiling efforts of local councils in the GTA and beyond to make communities more bikeable and walkable www.thestar.com/news/gta/how...
How the 15-minute city idea became a misinformation-fuelled fight that’s rattling GTA councils
The idea of making cities walkable and livable has helped fuel a conspiracy theory that is throwing local meetings into chaos — and is already changing the way councils work.

Urbanism wins when people who own cars don’t feel the need to use them all the time.
An important note is that, at least for my family, e-bikes have replaced many car *trips*, not necessarily cars, because we don’t live in a super dense city and neighborhood. And that’s ok. We need every incremental change we can get.
Wine and firewood are just two of the things I hauled home with my old RadWagon. I used this bike a lot to carry my kids, too

Our boomer population is getting very close to the point where many of them will lose their driver's licenses for medical reasons.

We need to start building more bike/accessibility lanes so they can still access shopping, events, and more independently.
If your city’s bike network is safe & connected, people of all ages & abilities will use it, including people in motorized wheelchairs.

Everyone deserves freedom of mobility & to get around in the ways that work best for them. Cities need to ensure that’s possible.

Bluesky works differently than platforms you're already used to. Liked posts don't get boosted to new eyes. The key is reposting.

I have been thinking this all week. Some people are still talking like the rules won't change. Some people just presume Trump didn't wreck everything the first time (it was closer than you'd think) so he won't the second time. Some people just have no idea. But there are dark times ahead.
I really think most people don't appreciate the scale of what's coming.
