They illegally blocked a best practices document the government commissioned from experts and then disregarded it.
Zero surprises that the brainless transphobic health minister in NZ ignored all expert advice and evidence and banned puberty blockers for trans youth. Literal blood on his hands.

It’s my position that the MCNZ needs to MAKE SOME NOISE. Because if governments are allowed to make medical policy without input from health care professionals, it’s a slippery slope downwards. What’s next? ADHD meds? Contraceptives? Refusing meds to ‘drop kicks’ (to quote Seymour) ???

Medical Council of NZ’s main role is “Whakahaumaru i te iwi whānui, whakatuarā te kounga o te tikanga rata. We protect the public and promote good medical practice.” I have emailed them tonight to ask what their actions will be regarding this political interference in the delivery of medical care.

This!
The problem has never been trans people.

The problem has alway been men with power and privilege who think they have the right to systemically, deliberately dehumanise and oppress anyone who doesn’t look like them in every single sphere of life.

Violence in policy is still violence in practice.

The second volume will be even larger

Perhaps titled ‘Word Salads’
This is a 52-pound 9000+ page accordion-bound artist’s book of Donald Trump’s lies, conceived, printed, and bound by Jill and Ray Nichols of @leadgraffiti.bsky.social in Delaware. Each of the 9000 pages has the text (per the Washington Post) of one or more of Trump’s lies; none are repeated.

I think any story about Trump's autocracy should be mostly about the people and institutions who failed to stop it. This guy isn't a political genius, everything else just happens to be rotten. 'Toddler Consolidates Power In Household' is a story about incompetent parents, not shrewd maneuvering

There are no circumstances where human beings should be without food. There are no qualifications that make someone undeserving of access to food. If you are a human being, you should get food. I don’t care about ability, job status, legal status, or anything else. If people are hungry, feed them.

Word of the Day is ‘tandsmør’, from Danish. It describes bread that is buttered so thickly you can see tooth marks in it after every bite. Its literal translation? ‘Tooth butter’.

the post office is a public service. it doesn’t need to make money. public transit doesn’t need to make money. the library doesn’t need to make money. some things exist for the public good and we desperately need lawmakers to stop thinking about them in terms of capitalism. these are not businesses.

I can’t quite put it into words yet, but something is happening, a kind of global singularity—a fusion of tech/media/news/government/employment which allows the global elite to push single agendas: “You WILL care about Charlie Kirk. You will NOT care about Palestine. You WILL fear cancel culture.”
Think we are up to 8 bbc news alerts about charlie kirk.

Replace lawyer with doctor and most of this would still be spot on
I was thinking of client red flags: the things that, if a potential client does them, I start out suspicious and on my guard. Some of these are about honesty, some are about narcissism and personality, some are about capacity to take legal advice.

Here we go:

Women’s status is very rapidly eroding—in their civil rights protections, healthcare, access to the public sphere, and the cultural support for their independence and dignity. But there is no feminism: our public gender discourse is divided between transphobia and handwringing about man’s feelings.

Show up to counter the fascist cunce.
Incredibly heartening seeing everyone on here with InternetNZ membership live-threading the AGM

People are really showing up for these fights, and even if we *lose* some of these, the experience, community and resilience gained from this sort of activism is invaluable
