When I think of A.I. I think of asbestos. To begin with everyone thought Asbestos was amazing, folk used it in everything. Then they started learning it was dangerous, research was done, they stopped using it, thou for some the damage was already done. Stop using A.I and limit the damage it's doing.

The economics of AI (LLM) data centers continue to be utterly unworkable. This whole thing is going to crash sooner rather than later and leave a giant smoldering crater where a big chunk of the economy used to be.
As a former BA/sysadmin for a Big Tech company, a heck of a lot of this rings true. Concern over the direction of the industry (toward AI) was only one of the reasons I resigned, but it was a big reason.
This week, I resigned from my position as Director of IT/Tech at an org I truly believed in. I wanted us to stop using Generative AI and was told no.

I used to be a content writer for a consumer education, protection, and advocacy org. Now among other things, I’m a freelance writer, and I’m considering starting a Medium pub or newsletter on these issues, including scams, hoaxes, recalls, etc. Is there still a readership out there?

We need multiple forms of protest, multiple avenues of resistance, many ways to be pushing against these horrors at once.
There are going to start to be more protests, and that’s good, but we need strikes, slowdowns, document leaks, boycotts. We need loud public voices and refusals to comply.
