Hello 🗺️ I don't understand the hype around ChatGPT. I've used it for outlining potential essay structures, summarising some future career possibilities and giving pro-con lists for specific scientific methods. I found I could do the same with a quick search or brainstorm. Am I doing something wrong?

Women leave academia at higher rates than men at every career stage, and attrition is especially high among three groups: tenured faculty, women in non-STEM fields, and women employed at less prestigious institutions.

The problem was always attrition and not enrolments of girls and women in STEM
This is a clarifying read. Gendered attrition is higher among more senior faculty, higher for faculty at lower-prestige institutions and for faculty from non-STEM disciplines. “Gender and retention patterns among U.S. faculty “| Science Advances www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
Gender and retention patterns among U.S. faculty
Women faculty are more likely to leave their jobs than men, most often due to workplace climate, rather than work-life balance.

Time for a rant

AI, or as I refer to it, generative images, are yet another example of a solution in search of a problem.

I have some Beef with the techbro set, and they boil down to three main points.

Infringement

Disenfranchisement

Ignorance

Buckle in, this is going to be long. 1/20
