TIL: We can apparently engineer E. coli to handle the key steps needed to synthesize acetaminophen (Tylenol) starting from PETE (plastic recycling number 1). This opens up some *very* interesting potential bioremediation angles to the plastics problem.

I have a lot of thoughts about the "I can generate 200 books a year you can only do 2 at most if you actually write the things, I win" bullshit, and no time to yell about all of it. So I'll just say this:

We’ve paid rent for over 270 households so far in February and we currently have a waitlist that totals over $30,000.

We distributed rents one by one.
We can’t even think about March rent yet.

If Jesse Pinkman brokered a deal with the King of Scottsdale and casting rolled that dude out even Vince Gilligan would say that’s too on the nose

Before this moment I never considered the King of Scottsdale Arizona but the most miraculous thing occurred. In the milliseconds between reading that phrase and looking at the accompanying image my brain perfectly 100% accurately predicted what I was about to see
Big weekend for Clavicular. His cortisol levels were spiked by foids while he was jestergooning and chadfishing in the club. And then he got ragebaited by the King of Scottsdale.

Endangered species will continue to plummet, more fisheries will shutter, and Tribes & Delta communities will continue to suffer with worse water quality.

fish sauce and chili peppers are her go-to for inflexible ingredients? really?

Microbes construct their own niche which in turn reshapes their evolution.

the great joke of this era of unprecedented abundance is that our elite universities could easily solve this "problem" by being bigger, but the point of elite universities is not to ensure that kids go to good schools but to ensure that the right people's kids are the ones who go to the good schools
Helen Andrews, who once accused @adamserwer.bsky.social of writing the "most toxic piece of journalism" of the era and who recently argued that women are basically the main problem, is currently waxing rhapsodic about how the issue with Asian Americans is that they are too good at school.
