Human brains produce new ideas every second of every day. Sit down with a tiny child and ask them to explain something they're doing and you will hear half a dozen of them. Ideas are what humans *do*. The idea is by far the easiest part of any creative process.
But the point (there is a point) is, people fetishise the idea over the hard work of plotting and character development and research and internal consistency and just writing the fucker, because the Idea is the sparkly magic bit.

And this is what makes them put value in the AI prompt.

Rebecca Heineman's last message was for people to look up her departed partner, Jennell Jaquays.

Jaquays was so influent to tabletop RPGs that "Jaquaysing" became a verb for designing complex, non-linear dungeons.

@nickoten.bsky.social wrote a great article on her:

How Jennell Jaquays Evolved Dungeon Design, Part 1: Pre-Jaquays Dungeons
(This is a slightly cleaned up version of my two Bluesky threads on Jennell Jaquays, preserved in a hopefully easier to read format. Thank Amanda P for reminding me that having these things stored …

What a remarkable human, and what a remarkable thing to know that she passed bemused at reading her own eulogies.

Rest in peace, Rebecca. Thank you for everything.
I never thought I’d get this wish. Odd seeing eulogies before I expire

QTP with your first Pokémon game and starter!

I got blue very early, because I found a US import copy. It was super cheap - £20 instead of the standard 30 (which the copy of red next to it was priced at!)

I'd long since finished the game before it really hit big here, which felt weird

Remember everyone, when you look back at your life you'll remember the cool shit you tried, even if you failed, way more than you remember the boring safe choices.

For indie game devs specifically, maybe your game fails, but you'll remember making a game more than working a safe desk job.

I have been gripped by a madness, and thought of a reasonably small set of changes that would make Lunch Rush work as an arcade machine.

It only got 150 plays on itch, there's no way it's worth the effort, surely?

Yeah I don't know how I didn't see this coming. Ten billion sales. Gabe will purchase his very own yacht factory

Friendly reminder that dishwashers made after 1995 or so are so water and energy efficient that even if you ran them twice fully loaded it would still use less water than handwashing the same load.

So many "green" things feel like sacrifices. Dishwashers are not one of them.

I did it (with my partner, anyway)

I beat blue prince. What a game! We tried to get as little help as possible, we got spoiled on a small number of puzzles but we mostly solved every scrap ourselves.

Definitely a game for the insatiably curious :D

"no one who works full time should live in poverty"

Wrong. Tiny brain take.

No-one should live in poverty. No-one needs to, if distribution of resources was fair no-one f unless they wanted to

"but what about people who won't work?" I don't care. What about billionaires who don't work?

Games industry forces RTOs (often involving moving cities for a job that may not exist in a few months) because being in office together on zoom is just ~*so heckin valuable*~

but then replaces as many people as they can get away with with chatbots because the human connection doesn’t matter

Hmm!

But!

I did it from Linux on my laptop. Took a bit of fussing to get all the tools in place, but it's working now 😁
