To some, I’m known. To others, I’m not. Which are you?
@scalzi.com Hey there! I got an email from Audible saying the release of The Shattering Peace was “delayed indefinitely” and my pre-order was cancelled. I did a quick google and could see what’s going on. Any insight?

P.S. You rock!

This is serious, rigorous analysis and it should change the way the media has been covering these protests. These were, in the aggregate, *massive.*
Based on crowd-sourced records of No Kings Day event turnout, and extrapolating for the cities where we don't have data yet, it looks like roughly 4-6 million people protested Trump across the U.S. yesterday. That's nearly 2% of the U.S. pop!

Mobilized anti-Trump resistance is exceeding 2017 levels
"No Kings Day" protests turn out millions
Our unofficial estimate is that around 4 million people attended a protest event yesterday. Anti-Trump resistance is outpacing 2017.

Star Trek: New Frontier was my absolutely favorite series of books. Had a chance to meet him once and so sad to hear of his passing. Wonderful person.

THIS IS HUGE! Researchers at Stanford University have developed a dual-antibody treatment that remains effective against ALL SARS-CoV-2 variants by targeting a less-mutable part of the virus. This breakthrough could lead to longer-lasting therapies that OUTPACE viral evolution. 🧪🧵⬇️

When I was a Hill staffer in 2009, a Dem trifecta was trying to pass universal healthcare. In response, Senate GOP released a memo detailing all of the tactics they in the minority could use to delay the effort as much as possible. I'm recirculating that 2009 GOP memo here. Take inspiration from it.

A reminder: Tariffs are a regressive tax that drives up prices on everyday goods. They disproportionately hurt the working class and poor who bear the brunt of higher costs while wealthier consumers feel significantly less impact.

It would be nice if @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social and democrats were demonstrably doing that already. Not exactly seeing any actual movement from the dems here. @aoc.bsky.social.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries says Democrats are going to fight Donald Trump's horrible agenda:

"We're going to fight it legislatively. We are going to fight it in the courts, and we're gonna fight it in the streets."

Do you know why a president would do all the most evil and heinous shit via Executive Order? Because his party can't easily make it law. And if they can't make it law, they can't make it last.

Don't let anyone make you feel like this is The End. Do not let them demoralize you. Live to see them die.

I hope everyone is ok, in Trump-adjusted terms.

Last few days have been more exhausting than usual for me and I’m sure many of you.

Rest if you can. Eat a piece of fruit. Have some water. Move your body. Love someone.

Donate something you don’t need anymore. Smile at a stranger. Read a poem.
