It may be the sherry, but I am resolved, next month, to brave Jarrolds food hall, with Rosie, to spent most of my festive budget on a large wedge of truffled Baron Bigod.

It's an *amazing* cheese, & Dulcie and Johnny are 2 of the nicest people you could ever meet/support. 🥰

It’s Stir-Up Sunday and so, as tradition decrees, my Ultimate Christmas Pudding is #RecipeOfTheDay. I have converted many Christmas pud haters with this, which is due not to any brilliance on my part but to the treacly magnificence of the Pedro Ximénez sherry in it. www.nigella.com/recipes/ulti...
Ultimate Christmas Pudding
I don’t deny it: there is something unattractively boastful about calling one’s own recipe “ultimate”. But having soaked my dried fruit for this pudding in Pedro Ximénez — the sweet, dark, sticky sher...

I just fished out the sherry glasses (they're actually Russian vodka glasses) and found (, almost missed), in the bottom, with the dust, two tiny (I'm talling smaller than a peppercorn) pieces of paper. One saying "I lov you" and the other saying "Bchk" (the noise an angry goose makes).

Just so you all also know, John was a Nigella fan (as we all are, for a variety of reason).
So her Christmas pudding recipe is suitable.
All you need for today is Pedro Ximinez, prunes, sultanas an raisins. Next week you need different ingredients.

It's Stir Up Sunday. I would always get a text from John, today, reminding me. More for him than for me, to be honest. He was religious. I am not. But the sharp relief of hindsight kind of makes it feel like it was a reminder that I was his daughter regardless of biology.
Go, hug your parents.

It’s crazy to think about the crimes we’re going to learn about after this regime ends.

We’re already hearing about Watergate level crimes every week. Imagine what will come out after it’s over.

We’re going to need a full accounting of all that’s been done in violation of the constitution.

With its various and playful explorations of authenticity — "found documents", metafictional games with readers, etc. — The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner (1824) by James Hogg, anticipates some of postmodernism's best trickery: http://buff.ly/2p3UZIt

Bellingcat’s contact email has always been a magnet for people with fairly unusual views; paranoid delusions, sprawling conspiracies, the works. But recently, the pattern has shifted, we’re seeing more and more emails clearly written with ChatGPT.

Today, I took delivery of some reading lights so that I can read in my armchair next to the fire, and on the sofa whilst D is playing computer games.

My life now consists of darkness punctuated by brief intervals in which I call my biological Dad up, and tearfully whisper, in a Werner Herzog voice, "I vould like to see ze beez."

We have a tricky relationship.

But he understands that a video call with a bee update is his best form of support.

Today I accidentally defrosted a pot of homemade chicken gravy (made with homemade chicken broth) instead of congee...
Which means I have to cook roast chicken today. Because you can't throw out good gravy. You just can't.
