Religion note: Remember that pastor who was arrested protesting an ICE detention facility outside Chicago recently? The one who was photographed on the ground as officers arrested him?

That's Rev. Michael Woolf, and this is his church.

50% of my children have reached their environmentalist phase, is obsessed with saving the sea turtles, and just raged at me for throwing out a (non-recyclable) plastic bag.

I'm pleased that they're eco-conscious but also feeling v. sorry for my parents during my FERNGULLY stage.

I tried making a different kind of pierogi today: an Easter story, part one.

I followed the recipe! Even when it was just mashed potato and potato flour and salt!

This was a huge mistake.

50% of my children told me they're getting me a box of scorpions for my birthday, and today I have a favorite child.

This is the vibe, y'all. Nazi punks can def fuck off, but so can *all* Nazis. And Nazi sympathizers.
Nazi punks fuck off for sure but I'd love for nazis who like other types of music and ones who don't like music at all to also fuck off

"It took the Nazis 1mo, 3wks, 2 days, 8hrs and 40min to dismantle a constitutional republic. When the 5-alarm fire starts to burn, every good person better be ready to man a post with a bucket of water if you want to stop it from raging out of control."

50% of my children: WEDNESDAY. ISN'T. REAL.

The other 50% of my children: but if my mouth is open, I can't help screaming.

Big 2025 vibes, kid.

50% of my children cut their finger. Minor cut. Probably won't even scab, it's miniscule.

"Look, mommy - you can see the MEAT."

This is my fault for teaching them that humans are full of meat, but also no you can't see the meat, and also also: children are the inspiration for all things horror.

Watching LIFE OF PETS.
50% of my children: oh and the Super Mario song is even in this!
Me: it is?
50% of my children: yeah! The no sleep til Brooklyn one!

Yes yes. The Super Mario Brothers classic. Loved the Beastie Boys' cover though.

Not to brag, but when I howled "what's in the box" right now, 50% of my children asked if it was Gwyneth Paltrow's head.

It's taken nearly seven years (heh, seven) but one of my long-term parenting...things has worked! Follow me for more questionable parenting tips.

Hear me out: airports need menopause lounges, so that the hot flashing of us can nip outside. There are already indoor dog yards at the airport, give us outdoor hot flash parks.

Please and thank you.

Just watched a commercial for Cellino Law, immediately followed by one for Barnes Firm and the question no one ever answers: what the fuck happened to Dwyer.

In other news, I'm in Buffalo.

I saw someone refer to what used to be Twitter as X-ITTER, and uh. Sometimes? In some language(s, maybe?), an X as that SH sound. Sooooo.

I hereby nominate we pronounce it SHITTER. Is this already happening? I'm not good at text social media platforms...

50% of my children: why do I never listen to you guys??

Been asking that for almost seven years, kid. Good question.

How many die annually because of insurance denials? If we're forced to buy private insurance, shouldn't we know which company is less likely to murder us?

It's important to nurture the grudge if it want it to properly blossom.
I never hold grudges.

I'm not great about reminding myself of these things, and opening Bluesky to this was much needed.

You do matter - and if you don't feel like it right now, I'm really good at pep talks I swear. I'll help you hold onto hope if you can't right now. We take care of each other.
Reminder:

You are safe and in control.

You have done this before, and you can do it again.

You trust yourself to navigate through this.

You are strong and resilient.

You are enough.

You matter.

I'm proud of you
