The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

You absolutely must enter middle-age with good friends nearby. I had a shit week & this weekend 2 friends fed me and let me be exhausted and weird but not alone.

Maybe extended family serves this function for some people--I wouldn't know. Everyone else, I know people are unbearable but we need them

This new library card thing motivated me to get over myself and return these books that were so overdue they were no longer in the system, after snapping a few pics of relatable quotes. #BookSky📚

Deep sigh
I think people ignore how many Mamdani style candidates that have ran across the country and were very popular, but the establishment Democrats organized themselves to crush them. I could be wrong, but I think most progressive initiatives and politicians get blocked by Democrats nationwide.

I once had a boss tell me to ask another woman to wear makeup and "take care of herself" more

... who asked a contractor if she packed her bikini for a work trip

... who asked if I'd have to miss work because I was having a miscarriage

But sure it's women ruining work

Bad, Minneapolis, bad! Go sit in the corner and think about what you've done.

@aoc.bsky.social says of Mamdani victory: "A lot of people...are willing to talk about party unity when it serves them, but not party unity when it serves everybody."

"We have a future to fight for, and we're either going to do that together or you're going to be left behind."

As many have pointed out, Mamdani didn't stand apart from our trans brothers and sisters. He didn't play the "Gee, gosh, it sure is complicated," milquetoast moderate card. And he crushed.

The way forward is together, not over the bodies of our own.

I sincerely hope Democrats pay attention to tonight’s results across the country. They won’t learn anything but still. Maybe. People are excited by change and original campaigns and bold ideas and candidates under the age of 50!

I'm not getting my hopes too high for local results, so I really need NYC to pull through.

I'm just staring at this quote in disbelief:

"A Mamdani victory is a serious political problem for those in the party who believe, as we do, that our primary focus must be on flipping red and purple seats blue"

As Mamdani nears victory, Democrats worry about national fallout
The progressive candidate is on the cusp of a historic mayoral win. And that's adding to unease among Democrats looking for a way back to national power.

Ward 10 report:

At 1:30 I was 596th voter in my precinct. And Lydia Millard people are out In Force at Lake and Lyndale on every corner, waving signs, trying to hand people flyers. I saw a guy with 2 Millard signs attached to him cruising on his scooter like a one-man parade.

Textual language, as experienced through both reading and writing, is one of our species' near-magical achievements, so of course now every tech-dipshit landlord wants to build machines and reproduction economies that dissolve it like acid.
