Serious question:

What percent of those saying “this gives Trump a precedent he didn’t have before” are law professors, lawyers, etc.?

I increasingly feel like the legal world distinctly refuses to acknowledge the naked legal realism of our present moment.
So much this. Stop pretending the pardon will allow Trump to do anything he wasn't already going to do. That was foolish to believe in 2017, but insane to believe in 2024.
it's so heartwarming to see everyone arguing over how best to Defend Norms, just like it's 2017 again. missed you all 🥰

This is dumb. Did Trump's pardon of Charles Kushner include anyone else? Did his pardons of Roger Stone & Paul Manafort apply to his former lawyer Michael Cohen? Pardons apply only to the individual they are meant for &, in a properly functioning system, each is considered on its merits.

This entire discourse feels like gaslighting. Yes antisemitism exists on the left and appears to have spiked since Oct 7. But anti-Arab and anti-Islamic prejudice ALSO EXIST and are major contributing factors to an ONGOING CAMPAIGN OF MASS MURDER.

Why is 99% of media concern aimed at the former?

November was a mess of a month for all of us.

After the election I thought I had a major health crisis, but it turned out I was healthier than I realized. Over the course of the month I took roughly 94732 shots and drove mostly SoCal only.

Here are my top 4 shots, descriptions in alt text.

Time to give @bluesky props. As I write this, there are 560 quotes and replies to the post below.

Of those only 4 call me names and give me shit. About 15 do the same towards Trump.

The remaining 541 are on topic and add value.

It’s a battle of political leverage. Who can use tariffs, retaliatory tariffs or sanctions to create more political pain for the other leader. Forcing them to capitulate or face undesired consequences.

How crazy would it be if China, Mexico and/or Canada initiated tariffs before Trump took office
From your standpoint as a businessman and manufacturer, is there any sense behind this? Especially now that other countries are threatening tariffs of their own in retaliation. But that doesn't make sense cause it would mean raising their own taxes.

The Trump ordeal has made one thing clear.

Too many of our checks and balances rely on norms, traditions and the honor code.

It works when those elected into power are people of honor and integrity who respect our norms and traditions.

Elect a lifelong criminal and it all goes sideways.

I have the memo. It's a blueprint for a new Democratic Leadership Council. Explicitly so:
