if i had a nazi granddad spy known as 'the butcher' i would not invite comparison to him by voluntarily becoming chief spy on Fascism Island. Also I would probably stop going into the hairdressers and asking for the Roman Roy

It was a fascist uprising & we should have zero scruples in naming it as such
I don’t think anybody has suggested Southport was “a fascist uprising”.

Rather it presented an excuse for a lot of racist people to spread racist conspiracy theories and engage in and incite racist violence.

That is a matter of record.

The desperation to pretend otherwise is bizarre.

The problems in our society are not caused by migrants or refugees.

They are caused by an economic system rigged in favour of corporations and billionaires.

If the government wanted to improve people’s lives, it would tax the rich and build an economy that works for us all.

my granddad was lucky enough to live in a postcode where the NHS could get a care package for him so he could die at home. Every single one of those carers was an immigrant and treated him with nothing but love and care.

if you worked on the original potter films then you can legitimately say "none of us knew, then". if you worked on the stupid fantastic beasts films you can say "we should have known, and i'm sorry". but if you've signed up for the new HBO series then you knew, and this is bullshit ass-covering.

This is incredible.💗🏳️‍⚧️ Rhianna Pratchett and Rob Wilkins spent the whole week digging through Sir Terry Pratchett's archives to find an incredibly rare signed first edition of Monstrous Regiment for the Genre for Trans Rights charity auction. bit.ly/genrefortrans. It's already over £1000!

If Stormzy’s going to say something craven and patronising about us not knowing the full context of him abandoning Palestine, there’s an easy solution: just provide that damn context.

But there is of course none, beyond ‘McDonalds gave me a number more substantial than my principles’.

As another early years specialist, these people are looking at a scooby doo villain mask and thinking 'I've done it! I've found the culprit!'

They'd be outsmarted by a stoner and his ravenous great dane. We throw around the word incurious but this is a dangerous example of surface-level thinking
