andreessen doesn’t know what education, let alone thinking means.
my students *will* know now how to operate a camera and edit a film because that’s how they learn to think and problem-solve in the physical world.
mediamaking isn’t supposed to be a perfunctory time-saving process. it’s a craft.

It’s tiresome at this point, but again, their entire pitch is “wouldn’t it be great if there were no such things as talent, craft, and skill,” and what that means is a bland, slop-filled world. www.businessinsider.com/marc-andrees...

The constant framing of AI as an accessibility issue that breaks down barriers is completely at odds with the poor communities constantly fucked over in service of AI, the cost of it financially and environmentally and the cost of producing even the smallest most derivative crap.

Thirty-one years ago, there was a slave auction reenacted at Colonial Williamsburg.
Some thought it powerful, many thought it insulting.
This summer, I traveled to Williamsburg myself to see how the country’s largest living history museum today tells the story of Black life at America’s founding.

Like this “poem” was almost added to the Congressional Record nearly 30 years after it was first circulated because the First Lady hosted a Black woman at a tea party for Congressional wives. This poem was written and circulated in the first place because Booker T Washington visited the WH!

Democrats are going to need to get good at saying clearly that people in minority groups can invoke their identity to make a political point either in bad faith or in ways that are just plain wrong, and they are going to need to get good at saying this *even when they are not in that group*

one thing perhaps worth emphasizing is that under federal law an escaped enslaved person was a criminal. an "illegal," you might say.

I'm thinking about all that hollering from CK fanatics who insist he is just like MLK... and then we get this and they probably won't denounce it.
Far as I’m concerned, King died for his faith and this site — which I’m fortunate to have visited several times — is as sacred as the tomb of any apostle or martyr. www.wsbtv.com/news/local/a...
