This is a great thread. Jews are often asked to look the other way or "they didn't mean it" around antisemitism bc they are liberals. This is part of the reasons why liberal groups have issues talking about antisemitism. They refuse to think about it within their ranks.

Sy needs to bring in an artifact from our culture to class. I suggested a cheesecake to represent two parts of our culture: it can represent Shavous for our Jewish culture and also our gay icons, the Golden Girls! Both cultures represented!

Chicken over potatoes & carrots. Take some bone in chicken. Season liberally under & on the skin. Cut up potatoes & carrots. Season the potatoes with the same seasonings. Put the potatoes on half of the baking sheet, carrots on other half, chicken on top. Cook. When chicken is done, broil potatoes.

Going to explore this in more depth, and there will be legal challenges, but absolutely awful how much this administration is going after trans youth who just want to live their lives and receive safe treatment like gender affirming care.

I am starting data analysis on a new project where I queer the definition of family and propose what that means for public administration and policy where families are complicated and queer people can have different family structures for a variety of reasons.
Anyway, the idea of family by blood/marriage/adoption being somehow MORE and of a better nature than a found family of those choosing to be together but lacking those biological or legal connections is DEEP in the laws and minds of the country.

This is a great thread on the recent attacks on the trans community.
This year (5786), I have decided to read from this book weekly about the parshas. I love new ways of connecting to Judaism, especially queer ways. The first chapter was a great reminder that we were all made in Gds image, gay straight bi pan trans cis agender nonbinary.

For dinner tonight with my mother-in-law, I made a chocolate terrine. It is gluten free and yummy. Next time I might see if I can infuse lavender or peppercorns into it to build up some interesting flavors.
