Just noticed that @publico.pt does a very clever thing with the crossword in their app: if a clue refers to something in the news, there’s a link. Obviously means you can cheat, but also means you get informed. Really like it.

One thing I learned TA'ing for Alex Filippenko was that letting students make arbitrarily detailed cheat sheets was a fantastic way to let certain students organize their thoughts and distill class information. A learning experience that helped them on the test much more than the cheat sheet did!
We allow students to use handwritten „cheat sheets“ in the written exam of the introductory astro block course. This time, for the first time, we asked for those “cheat sheets” to be handed in, along with the examen. And I’m awed by the handwritten microfiche some of the sheets represent :-) 🔭⚛️🧪
