#12 Survival (1989)

The bulk of the final season of the classic series is about Ace growing up. Ghost Light saw her facing her childhood fears. Fenric saw her working through the anger she fet for her mother. And now Survival sees her growing past her childhood. The story begins in her hometown of…

We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art, and very often in our art, the art of words.

#13 The Enemy of the World (1967-1968)

Because the show was by episode in the sixties and not by story, it was fairly obvious when a member of the mail cast went on vacation. Their character would be locked up, knocked out, or otherwise ignored for a whole episode, leaving the absence notable but…

I’ve been on the record that this is one of the best things about the Craig films.

It’s also probably the hurdle of the next Bond run. Now that they’ve had a successful story arc, they need another one. Standalone films are dead, they think. Their franchise isn’t franchise-y enough, or something.
I don't really care about Bond movies but this whole "how are they going to bring him back?? we must respect the continuity of this storied franchise" stuff is bonkers because the Craig films were not in any kind of "continuity" with the ones that came before it

what are they even on about?

#14 The Time Warrior (1973-1974)

This is my vote for which story to show someone who had never seen the show but was interested. It soundly introduces the premise of the show, provides a POV character through new companion Sarah Jane, and delivers an exciting and funny story to boot. Linx debuts…

#15 The Aztecs (1964)

The first two historical stories looked at questions of survival and escape. This story touches on those themes, but it more prominently looks at questions of power, influence, and change. Barbara, being a master historian, has great respect and interest in the Aztec…

#16 The Dalek Invasion of Earth (1964)

The Daleks were obviously the first runaway success of the show, so bringing them back virtually in the same season (in the same production block and calendar year but technically held for the second season) was a no brainer. Their first appearance saw the…

#17 The Invasion (1968)

It's wild that Troughton's last season featured not one but two massive epics. This is the shorter of the two, a whopping eight episodes. It has a surreal opening, with the TARDIS reassembling itself after returning from the Land of Fiction, invisibly landing after in a…

#18 Planet of Evil (1975)

Something that I take exception to is the title of this story. There is no one on this planet who is evil. Misguided or ignorant of the truth of the situation like Sorenson, yes. Unstable due to being unable to control the situation like Salamar, yes. Defending its home…

Great thread. Something that I’ve said before (but maybe not on this platform) is that the history of Doctor Who is the history of television, and this thread goes a long way to indirectly support such an assertion.
The death of multi-camera TV: a thread. I know most of you will know the technical parts of this (and may have read it in the other place) but bear with me. 1/ 🧵

Please, if I have shared AI stuff is because I didn't realise, so just let me know and will delete post/correct.
In fact, I appreciate anybody telling me! Sometimes it's very obvious but we can all be duped.
Stop sharing AI slop.

It's one thing if you don't know or just made a mistake. No need to breathe down someones neck b/c its harder to tell nowadays.

But if you do know (ESPECIALLY IF YOU DO KNOW) even if you're posting it to make fun of it or sharing it unironically... consider not doing that.
