I'm thinking tonight of her picketing her own play, rowing out to the island they lived on in Galway, Greenham Common, Armagh jail, her pirate radio work, her women's rights work, Shannon Airport, Limerick Prison, Shell to Sea...she was all over and did everything.
An unbelievable woman. ❤️
Margaretta fit more than a few lifetimes of living and activism into those years. Fearless and uncompromising in the pursuit of peace, justice and equality, she challenged everyone who met her to think outside themselves and act to make this world a better place.

Gee, it's a real headscratcher

Could the current racist who repeatedly makes racist claims currently also have been racist as a teenager? It's like the riddle of the fucking Sphinx, mate

Once again, we are way too relaxed about the fact that "shooting Irish people is good actually" is a mainstream political position on the neighbouring island.

It's hard to express how problematic non-transposition, and non-implementation of environmental law is. It creates a legal vacuum that means decision makers don't know how to handle planning applications, enforcement agencies can't enforce, and the courts are often called in to plug the gap
The EU Court has found that we have failed to even bring in the laws we’d need to comply with our obligations to combat water pollution.

“Befehl ist aber Befehl!”

The US military has a track record of - rather ineptly, it’s true - hanging those who tried to rely on that excuse.
Lindsey Graham: "I don't think I've ever been on a show more unnerving than tonight. You've got US senators and members of the House suggesting to our men and women in the military that they should be disobeying unlawful orders issued by President Trump and his military."

Govt minister Alex Norris is asked if the govt will take jewellery from people [fleeing war and persecution]. Norris says the govt won't be taking peoples wedding rings but they will seize assets.

The significance here isn't that the Pope is groovy or progressive, but rather that the Pope sets the standard for mainstream conservative thought.

Which is to say: if you are more right wing than the Pope, you are really very extreme.
