I saw an excellent talk on targets but haven't yet been able to implement it in my projects. Future goals.
Tired of rerunning everything every time you change a line of code? 😩

The {targets} package automates your #Rstats workflow—only running what’s needed, tracking dependencies, keeping your analysis reproducible & efficient.

I simply cannot get my head around the disconnect- the planet is on fire, or under extreme rain and floods due to climate change. Yet we build these “centres” that consume amazing amounts of power and water, depriving people of affordable utilities.

Recent trip to #TimorLeste saw a large school of bumphead parrotfish!

They were doing a holding pattern swimming circles on the reef - too bad the viz wasn't great. Always amazing to see these gentle giants underwater.

🚨 ICE disappeared a woman on Wednesday night. She was grabbed by men in plainclothes and taken to an unidentified location.

ICE is refusing to say where she is being held. It’s 72 hours later and not even a dedicated team of lawyers can find her.

This is WRONG. We can’t let this be the new norm.

Composting food waste can reduce methane emissions. Easy to do. Proven technology. Really cheap.

“When finished eating, people tend to just toss what’s left: out of sight, out of mind,” Dou said. “But from the resource and environmental perspective, what happens after actually matters a lot.”

Ok so yeah, this has quickly become the #1 misunderstanding about the canceled grants

the grants are not “subsidies” or “entitlements” to Harvard or Princeton or whatever

they aren’t going into universities’ endowments

they are competitive contracts won by these universities to do research
There is a PR narrative quickly emerging about “entitlement” of elite universities, as if this $ is some sort of subsidy

Harvard & others must counter this quickly

The $ doesn’t flow into Harvard’s coffers - this is grant money, most of which goes to research the govt has agreed has social value
