That song has always given me chills.
The SS Edmund Fitzgerald was lost 50 years ago today — around the time Gordon Lightfoot was at work on a new album.

An experienced Great Lakes sailor who knew those waters well, he later told NPR he was surprised that media coverage gave “short shrift for such a monumental event.”

I never want this to be Canada. We must always fight any attempts at privatization and demand federal and provincial governments put more, not less, funding into healthcare. No one should be unable to afford healthcare ever!
My ACA current plan is going from $385/mo to $821/mo.

They don’t care what we, the public, think about anything. He only cares about enriching himself and his cronies.
By the time this man leaves office, we will have lost critical tracts of arable farming lands, been bled dry of potable drinking water, paved over critical wetlands, forestry, habitats of specifies at risk:

Buried in the Doug Ford govt's fall budget are changes that would remove parts of Wasaga beach from provincial protection. As I reported in August, those parts are 60% of the world’s longest freshwater beach and the main nesting area for the endangered piping plover: thenarwhal.ca/wasaga-beach...

Did anyone act expect that this government would accomplish this?
....the province hasn’t delivered on the treatment and housing components. Critics say the opening of the hubs was poorly planned and removed a lifesaving service without ensuring sufficient supports to help clients move toward recovery.
Ford government promised these health-care centres would be far better than supervised consumption sites. Are they actually working?
The province says more support is on the way, but delays in opening the hubs and a lack of access to housing have led to doubts about the strategy.

We cannot hide from these horrible folks. They’re here, recruiting, and working to destroy our country.

This was predicted. How are we making up this shortfall? Hm.....we'll spend 9.1 million on a consultation to see if we can build a tunnel (we can't), we'll make sure we continue to underfund education, health care, and social services. Guess we'll have to wait and see what the Ford-idiot does next.

No, I will not mind my own business about things that happen in the United States. The Americans have no qualms about butting into the affairs of other countries. When a demented US President threatens to annex Canada, you’re damn right I’ll make a lot of noise.

Nothing. Poilievre is just very aware that attacking Trudeau is literally the only thing in politics he’s ever been successful at. So it’s a variation of the old saying “when all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.”

Plus, get your security clearance, Poilievre. If you actually can.
What the hell did Trudeau do to PP that has him SO obsessed with Trudeau?
CANADA: May correctly calls out Poilievre for stealing from the Trump/Project 2025 playbook again.

Oh, and it’s ANOTHER good day to remind everyone that Poilievre STILL hasn’t done the normal security check, still hasn’t received the standard security clearance that EVERYONE in his position gets.

I suggest all Americans read this, because we need a good reminder of what the bastard that is called President is. Then we need to ask ourselves is this the kind of society we want, where rich people can freely rape & pillage? I know my answer is NO!
What's your America?
This past week there was a photo from Trump's gala of a barely clad woman frolicking in a giant champagne glass.
She looked like a teen.
It made me think of Jane Doe-another young woman who attempted to shine a light on the darkness in Trumpland.

Corruption is a cancer. It spreads. Doug Ford spreads it. After a decade of Ford's ideologically incompetent & debauched leadership, the quality of Ontario's bureaucracy will be compromised. Ford's placement of hacks into the judicial selection process makes the news, but it is happening everywhere.

This is really important.

The main thing that makes it hard to achieve integrated nature and green in cities isn’t density of buildings or density of people — it's density of cars. And the more well-designed and integrated density of people & buildings you achieve, the fewer cars you need or want.
