2/2 I got a response almost immediately. I just looked at it now and at the bottom it says this response was generated using AI. 🤦‍♀️

It also says how valuable my feedback is, but that’s obviously a stone-cold lie. How embarrassing for them.

I emailed @notion.com support last night to ask about how to hide AI stuff in the interface. I explained that as an author whose work had been illegally used to train AI I really don’t want to see those “features” or have them pushed on me. 1/2

We’ve never had such a prolific crop of blackberries as this summer. I’ve made blackberry muffins, blackberry jam, blackberry crisp, and frozen bags of them. Still many more to pick. What else should I make?

Nova Scotia's iconic Blue Nose is refusing to travel to Trumpland. This is a huge decision given the role they play in the international schooner festivals. But they will not cross the border.
The Blue Nose is your dime. If they can hold the line against fascism. So can you.
Keep the boycott strong.

Keep buying Canadian. Keep reading labels. Keep exploring new Canadian brands to find your favourites. Keep asking shops/stores if they stock Canadian goods.

It is all worth it. Not a waste of time. Benefits you and your community.

And, importantly, sticks it to the fascists down South.

River bathing is making a vibrant comeback across Europe. Cities are launching wild-swim-friendly waterfronts. These projects combine improved water quality with public design, turning rivers into lifelines for recreation, community, and cooler city lives. buff.ly/9bLjqjL

A robot bends over, vomiting up slimy chunks of books that it devoured earlier.

Botlicking technoslopper: "See that? That's my novel. I told the robot to vomit. I pressed the vomit button. I wrote that novel."

Attention stargazers!

It's time for one of the best meteor showers of the year — the Perseids, it peaks on the night of Aug. 12-13. On this night, under ideal conditions — dark, cloud-free, smoke-free, clear skies — the shower could produce roughly 100 meteors per hour.

One of the many significant differences between the USA and Canada is that in the 🇺🇸, electoral districts can be reshaped for political aims (gerrymandering), while in Canada, changes to electoral districts ate overseen by an independent body and reflect population distribution changes.

Yeah, I will continue to use em-dashes, semicolons, and whatever other punctuation I want as a writer. Here, want an interrobang‽
Writers should never modify their own prose as a reaction to what stupid fucking generative AI is doing -- that shit stole from us, and it stole poorly, incompletely, and has none of our magic and zero of our humanity, our experience, our wonder and fear, and it never ever will. Fuck AI. You do you.

Tom Lehrer was an absolutely formative part of my life and my sense of humour.
Tom Lehrer outlived Kissinger, and I think that is evidence that there are at least some good forces in the universe.

“I do have a cause, though. It is obscenity. I’m for it.”
-from the intro to “Smut”
"It is sobering to consider that when Mozart was my age he had already been dead for a year."
