The silence of the female reporter's colleagues sickens me. I'm not least bit shocked Trump again showed his misogyny. But people rolling over for it … that's … that's our current, awful, asphyxiating state of journalism. #mediaethics #journalism

From the story: The word "misguided" has never carried so much weight. Summer can go fly a kite* for all eternity.

*My substitute phrase for a more vulgar term. You know the one.

Years back it was this 👈 young journalist's dream job to work at the @nytimes.com. Seems I dodged a bullet, or more accurately, a bucket of shit, misogyny, and withering morals. #journalism #mediaethics #news

I'm knocking out more @letterboxd.social reviews of recent watches. Folks, when "Sirat" hits cinemas — limited later this month, wide in January — jump on it fast. It's terrific. letterboxd.com/angermann/re...

#SNL has had some banger skits this year, but this is master-level brilliant. Dig Glen Powell's singing. (Oh, and I sincerely, no joke, miss my now deceased ex-wife's mom. A truly kind soul. She's been through hell **but** still shows such kindness.)

We all become disabled or we die. Compassion for our other humans (or even if purely selfish, yourself), is the least we can do. Alice was an oracle and we need to honour her life's work.
Our beloved Alice Wong has joined the ancestors. It was one of the great honors of my life to call Alice my friend, co-author & co-conspirator. She was a true genius, a force of nature the likes of which the world has never seen before. I love you, Alice, and am equal parts grateful and devastated

In typical late fashion, I've posted some @letterboxd.social Friday reviews. Of this lot, One Battle After Another is the clear winner.

I thought only foreigners were paying the tariffs, and Americans were getting rich as a result. Trump said so! Thus, it must be true.
Trump’s new “affordability” push is basically reversing the tariffs he said would never cause un-affordability.

Well said… Local authors, too!! Wherever you live, someone is nearby writing stories or histories that can enlighten you. Me, I’m massively lucky enough to call Beth Macy a local author. Read. Read. Read!
Never been more important to buy from craftspeople, painters, potters, illustrators, makers, carpenters, bakers and the like. Seek them out, follow them, support them and buy their goods. Use them or lose them etc etc

This also reminds me of that moment as child when you see a bad movie for what it is, a *bad* movie. And you think, “Grownups made this shit?!?”

Not sure what film was my “first.” I do remember turning to my mother and asking if we could leave “Superman VI.” She made we sit for entire thing.
I'm very appreciative now of how many Roman citizenry must've been watching and going "god, this is so fucking stupid" while politically powerless to prevent it.
America has long feared it would suffer the same fate as the Roman republic, but never quite truly appreciated how utterly absurd Roman elites had become by the time of the late republic.

This entire thread. Maybe the U.S. is long overdue for a complete implosion from its own bullshit (white) superiority complex. And I’m on the ride folks, here in Southeast U.S.
The attorney general and the FBI director, a manosphere podcaster bro, pulled into the situation room a member of Congress best known for getting kicked out of a Beetlejuice musical for drunkenly giving her date a handy, in order to pressure her about the president's child sex trafficking scandal.

“He must be seen to get something.” Trump’s entire, decrepit, abyss of liquid shit psyche in seven words. To use the word “soul” is a mistake. Trump doesn’t have one.
NEW: Jeffrey Epstein said in emails that he had been advising the Russian government on how to deal with Donald Trump, one of several cases in which he wielded his connections to try to influence the course of foreign affairs. w @nahaltoosi

"Bad Faith" is indeed a must-watch film. My parents fell hard for Jim Bakker's PTL bullshit. To this day, my mother (father died) follows every word of Bakker and all his goddamn ilk.

Other folks have said it, but let me just note that:

(1) lots of talented, must-read journalists have been let go from their jobs over the last year

(2) millions of Americans are abandoning current media outlets and looking for new alternatives

Seems like a sure-fire business opportunity here?

They’ve laid off so many people that the government is now getting its economic data from DoorDash.
