This also reminds me of that moment as child when you see a bad movie for what it is, a *bad* movie. And you think, “Grownups made this shit?!?”

Not sure what film was my “first.” I do remember turning to my mother and asking if we could leave “Superman VI.” She made we sit for entire thing.
I'm very appreciative now of how many Roman citizenry must've been watching and going "god, this is so fucking stupid" while politically powerless to prevent it.
America has long feared it would suffer the same fate as the Roman republic, but never quite truly appreciated how utterly absurd Roman elites had become by the time of the late republic.

This entire thread. Maybe the U.S. is long overdue for a complete implosion from its own bullshit (white) superiority complex. And I’m on the ride folks, here in Southeast U.S.
The attorney general and the FBI director, a manosphere podcaster bro, pulled into the situation room a member of Congress best known for getting kicked out of a Beetlejuice musical for drunkenly giving her date a handy, in order to pressure her about the president's child sex trafficking scandal.

“He must be seen to get something.” Trump’s entire, decrepit, abyss of liquid shit psyche in seven words. To use the word “soul” is a mistake. Trump doesn’t have one.
NEW: Jeffrey Epstein said in emails that he had been advising the Russian government on how to deal with Donald Trump, one of several cases in which he wielded his connections to try to influence the course of foreign affairs. w @nahaltoosi

"Bad Faith" is indeed a must-watch film. My parents fell hard for Jim Bakker's PTL bullshit. To this day, my mother (father died) follows every word of Bakker and all his goddamn ilk.

Other folks have said it, but let me just note that:

(1) lots of talented, must-read journalists have been let go from their jobs over the last year

(2) millions of Americans are abandoning current media outlets and looking for new alternatives

Seems like a sure-fire business opportunity here?

Has DoorDash signed a deal to exclusively deliver Karoline her cocaine? Sounds like it.
They’ve laid off so many people that the government is now getting its economic data from DoorDash.

Yes. This ludicrous phrase 'woke right' seems a fairly blatant attempt by people on the actual right to somehow associate the blatant & hideous racism they have ushered in - whether through complacency, incompetence or malice - with the people who warned it was happening.
Anti-racism is of course welcome but the nonsensical phrase “woke right” is a very clear sign that a writer as lost it
"This week the woke right took to saying that people who are black aren't properly British" complains Danny Finkelstein.

No, Danny, Douglas Murray, who you patronised, promoted and admired, has been saying *exactly this* for over a decade.

15+ years old, but still VERY relevent — and if we had acted 15 years ago, the “better world” we’d be creating would be a LOT better & easier to reach. There are real consequences we’re just starting to see to not heeding this cartoon a lot sooner.

Even worse if we don’t heed it now. #ClimateCrisis

Donald Trump making America great again. The "great" part being what Upton Sinclair chronicled in "The Jungle."
Is this good? It doesn't seem good.

Stop calling it deporting, so MAYBE more Americans will get it. "Deporting" is sending someone back, after due process, to the country they came from, where they arrive a free person. This is human trafficking to a foreign torture prison for the rest of their lives. GET THE LANGUAGE RIGHT.

Democrats say that’s a nonstarter, arguing there are already limits on abortion access. The dispute could torpedo a deal, leading to higher health insurance premiums for millions.

I have an idea!

We sit Trump in windowless room w/ chair & table, hand him two fridge magnets, and say, "Mr. President, no one has ever made these two magnets stick together. You, sir, are the only one who can do it."

We quietly leave room, lock door, and never see him again!

Who's w/ me??
Trump: "Nobody knows what magnets are."

Make up all the bug hotels and bird boxes you want, but without way more healthy wild natural habitats like this, nature will continue to crash.

Rewilding is how we make that happen.
