The Deep Space Nine episode "The Muse" has one of the starkest A to B plot ratios in the history of Star Trek. The A plot is so good. Top tier Lwaxana/Odo content.

And the B Plot is... I mean JFC what a waste of Meg Foster.

Murder at the Embassy (AKA An Invitation to Murder: A Death in Cairo): Mischa Barton's sleuth returns in this whodunnit, this time investigating a killing at the British embassy in Cairo, leading to a conspiracy with - of course - Nazis. There's a pulpy paperback trashiness, but is rather plodding.

If you see a story like this & think "Gee, maybe I'm in a bubble I don't know about", that's a good instinct to have!

BUT

I am begging people to do just a bit of research, as a treat. It can even be fun! Go to the library or bookstore, check new arrivals, and count the white cis male authors! 😅🙄

I've seen all sorts of 2025 explanations as to why 'Stranger Things' is Bad now, and maybe there's truth to some of them. To me the main reason is a much more timeless one: It got too popular to stop so it lasted a couple seasons longer than it should have.

Rise of Skywalker review progress: I have made it past issue 1 finally, which is a slightly longer issue that covers roughly the first 40 or so minutes of the film.

My script is at 28 pages, including the lengthy intro before the review. For comparison, the Metal Gear solid review was 34 pages.

I don't know why people say there is too much complaining about AI when there clearly hasn't been enough complaining for people like this list-maker to realize it can't be depended on for things like this. People keep being surprised. List makers, lawyers, etc. The criticism has not reached them
#4 sounds like a lovely book but I didn't write it. Have had whānau up and down the country send me clippings lol
Whoever put together this list that has been circulated to regional papers, didn't fact check.
