The federal cabinet has passed a special warrant totalling $40,343,209,650 to account for necessary spending during the election period.

Special Warrants are the exception in Canada that Parliament must approve funds before government can spend. #cdnpoli #cdnlaw

No time to blog but important mentioning that both GDP and GDP per capita matter. GDP gets you your high speed rail and meaningful military investment. GDP per capita gets you better social safety net and lower deficits! Both are important to think about

You can decrease housing prices without leaving any net losers, but only if you do it before people who bought their houses at inflated prices with the expectation of retiring on a sale of the asset at retirement. That window means at any given time, if you assume that...

I've been daydreaming recently about a housing design, maybe on an assembly of two small lots, with 4 or 5 units, one a floor, with 1000-1500 sqft a piece with each having an exclusive portion of a back yard

Dreamt about a new road being put in in my home town. Was very divided in the moment because
a) new road (bad)
b) connects grid (good)
c) would drive traffic in front of a seniors facility (bad)
d) the complaints were quite half-hearted and nimby (made me less receptive)

US farmers, a sector famously so concentrated that they constrain their own production
Come ON man just ban all trade with other countries at this point and get it over with.

Shouting from the rafters that easily the preponderance of YIMBYs also think more social housing is needed, most of them dislike sprawl, and see YIMBYism as complementary to these goals

Your local urban planner says that the city is intent on developing some of your city's urban forests, and needs to decide between removing one high-quality large one or 10 smaller ones spread throughout the city, which would you want them to pursue?

18F is *precisely* what Musk and team claim should exist within government. But when his team found it, they destroyed it, because it is evidence that government works well (can’t have that!), and because like Zelensky, 18F didn’t bend the knee.

I didn't realize Polymarket had markets for tonight's election. I'm not a user of the service myself, but given how much more efficient the ONDP vote is likely to be, 22 cents for ONDP to finish in 2nd seems like a steal to me. I think their odds are closer to 2/3.
